Fellas, next month I'm going to give a talk to a large group of people. I want to distribute a digital copy containing my remarks, citations and 30 pages of reference documents; this digital copy will be a large PDF document. What is the best way for me to make this PDF available online? I need the PDF URL to be simple to comprehend and easy to verbally communicate to my audience. Was thinking of purchasing a 4-letter domain name to do this, for example, "For a digital copy of this talk, including pertinent reference material, please visit http://www.MySimpleDomainName.com"

What do you guys think? Is this a good idea or should I simply make the document available on Google Drive?

All opinions appreciated! :)

I work for a medium sized media company with offices all over the CONUS and we make extensive use of Google Drive/Docs. Hard to beat the simplicity

Your own website can work especially if you're trying to promote other content / services you offer. I wouldn't bother trying to register some super short domain.
URL shorteners work too and some let you specify the shortened url. You could also try to harvest email addresses before they get the document.

Hey thanks to all of you fellas. I decided that I'll probably use Facebook Groups. This will allow me to collect member comments and counter arguments with Facebook Groups' "forum-like" member posts. I'll Pin the related article (a PDF with citation references) as a file post to the top of the Group's timeline so everyone can access/download the talk and associated reference material. The URL will be simple to communicate (facebook.com/groups/MyGroupName) and I'll have a couple of hundred business cards printed with the URL (and talk abstract) to hand out to all in attendance. The fact that Facebook will handle the membership should help eliminate the anonymous creeps who nasty-post/troll-post the controversy the subject my talk stirs up.

This should work well.

I stole your emoticons. OK bad joke.
No more drinking before lunch, I promise.

Actually the FB thing is really clever. Will be interested to hear how it turns out.

I am a Facebook Luddite, but it seems to handle stuff like membership, member posts and email notifications very well...and you certainly can't argue with the price.

What?

Q™ontroversy generated by Q™?
And that you'd stir the pot of Q™ontroversy?

I wasn't ready for that possibility, LOL!

You can set your group on facebook to require your approval before allowing access.
