I purchased 10TB purple drives in 2025 for $260 each, they are now $450!!!! Are they made of gold now?
Bought my ryzen 5700x3d for 180. Now the cpu goes for 300-400 used.
What does one do with an NVR that has a maximum of 20TB (two 10TB drives usually) for storage? I'm guessing an 18TB and a 2 TB?10TB is no longer the sweet spot, so thats probably also why you're seeing inflated prices
There are deals much much better than that to be had, even with the price fixing going on
Without any sales, you can get an 18TB for $310
And, that is a portable drive, isn't it?10TB is no longer the sweet spot, so thats probably also why you're seeing inflated prices

IME they work fine since I'm running 12/14/16TB in my Dahua 608-64 4kS2 that says only supports 10TB each. What does one do with an NVR that has a maximum of 20TB (two 10TB drives usually) for storage? I'm guessing an 18TB and a 2 TB?
A lot of people buy externals and shuck them to save significant money, but it may void any warranties. And, that is a portable drive, isn't it?

Ok, B&H has the best prices on WD purple drives, but they are out of stock on EVERY model number and size. Amazon has them, but super expensive and many don't give an expected delivery date. I suspect Amazon has a hard time getting them as well
Yeah I know, a lot of people just dont fight back but I will.Illegal here in the USA. I've personally warrantied at least 10 of them, no problems. Sometimes they question it say say "As a one time exception" they will cover it
However if they deny you, they are breaking the law
Two Dahua NVR5216-16P-4KS2E NVRs. Each NVR currently has a 10TB purple drive in them. Are the "Shuckables" are purple drives? What NVR is it?
Those Easystores are "Shuckable" meaning you can just take the internal drive out of the case

Pardon my ignorance, but what is an "SMR" drive?Don't bother with Purples, just buy the cheapest non SMR drives you can
Yeah, not a fan of trading performance for price. Stable reliable storage is a must when something important happensSMR is Shingled Magnetic Recording, where the magnetic tracks overlap. It means you can get more data on the disk platter so they are cheaper to produce, however it comes at the cost of performance
