I am on v5.3.x and planning to move to 5.9.9 and then onto 6 in the coming days.

I run 14 cameras, 12 of which record 2k 24x7. I dont plan on adding more cameras.

My PC is 12 years old, been running BI the entire time. It is just super slow.

I am wondering will BI 6 run fine on it? The Wiki hear about hardware is from Feb 2025 and pre v6 too. Is it still considered "updated" as to the type of processor, RAM, etc that is required? I am interested in some of the AI Stuff so I may mess around when I upgrade to v6 and I am sure that takes some horsepower to run.

This computer will be 90% Blue Iris and 10% Composer Home Edition for some light Control4 programming like 1x a month and its a fairly lightweight program which is closed/not running 99% of the time.

What do you have now and have you done the optimizations in the wiki like direct to disk and substreams?

V6 wasn't that big a jump compared to other programs, so the hardware suggestions are still the recommendations.

Direct to disk was set up already

The substreams wasnt as I didn't realize that was a new feature. I was quickly able to move ~8 or 9 of the 14 cameras to substreams and I went from ~44% CPU usage to ~18-22% CPU usage and memory from 80% down to 70%

I'll have to look up the substream URLs for the remaining cameras

As far as the specs I have:

Its an AsusPC - 8GB of RAM (DDR3), core i7-4770 @3.10 ghz, 4 GB Graphics card and I have a second 6 TB HD installed which is what takes on the recordings
