Guide to good camera installation practices?

I'm sure there has to be a thread on here somewhere, but I can't locate it.

Is there a thread on here that guides one through the installation of cameras - locations, angles, etc. that are preferred, locations to avoid and other things from experience to watch out for?

In short, it is better to place cameras at entrances, in places with high traffic, avoid direct sunlight and closed areas.
