I have a Dahua IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E for recording license plates passing by. The "glass" (probably plastic) started to get a bit yellowish and murky, reducing image clarity significantly. It has been out for probably 5 years or so and it faces the morning northern California sun at probably around 45 degree. It can be fairly intense during summer but not much I can do about it, I think. In any case, is there a way to fix it? I did my car light covers before with sending it down and putting a new UV protectant on. However, while initially I was very clear again, within half a year or so it got worse again and I suspect the same would happen with this camera if I did the same. And I don't feel like redoing this every 6-12 months.

Thank you everyone. Judging by the responses, this seems a common issue. So two questions:

1) Are there places that sell good quality glass replacements for this camera model?
2) Are there newer models that have much higher quality covers (probably glass instead of what I suspect is plastic)?

I have seen glass lenses on AliExpress. You should measure what you need and try to find some on Ali. I have done this to some Autometer gauges as well. They even have those domed ones as well for the wedge cams.
You can't install it right under the eve, to protect the camera a bit better?
