Gasoline-- how much where YOU are??

Average here is around $6.50 premium, $6.90 diesel. Gone up over 30 cents in the last 2 days.

There are truckers I know talking about going on strike, and several who have parked their rigs and said screw it.

Meanwhile politicians are talking about getting rid of taxes on gas etc... how about we just end the Iran war?

Everywhere near me is over $6.00/gal now.
In case you're interested: Here in Germany, the price of diesel (today € 2,60/Liter) - converted to gallons and dollars - has now reached $11,23 a gallon. :banghead:

So, diesel is actually still really "cheap" where you are in the USA.

BREAKING: Trump calls for a total ban on US diesel exports, saying "Let's not send out the diesel. We make a lot of diesel," that a decision would come "fast," and that an announcement is expected "very soon."

It would be the first US diesel export ban in history.

Europe stands to be hit hardest, as the US is the world's largest diesel exporter and Europe its biggest customer, buying record volumes since the Gulf barrels stopped, making its worst-ever energy crisis worse. Russia, the second largest exporter, has already halted its own exports.

US diesel is at a record $6.53 a gallon today and 16% of French stations are out of fuel.

Yes, that "great idea" is making the rounds in the press here, too:

"Consequences for Europe
The impact of an export ban could also be felt in Europe: alongside the Middle East, the United States is Europe's most important supplier of diesel. The last time the US largely halted crude oil exports was during the oil crisis of the 1970s, in an effort to lower domestic prices."

As for the man who was democratically elected in the US and is the current US President - I’d better not say anything. :smash: After all, he isn't "my" president.

Mine either

OK so that’s one less person - but someone must have voted for him. As a non-US citizen, I can’t really judge the situation fully, but it remains a mystery to me how this president could be elected to office a second time. Then again, if that is the "will of the people," so be it.

Here in Germany, too, more and more people are voting for the party (AFD) that shouts the loudest; with a bit of common sense, anyone ought to see what’s actually going on behind the scenes. But all too often, people let themselves be dazzled by completely unrealistic claims, or feel compelled to vote for such a party out of protest, or - for whatever reason - simply seem to have lost their common sense along the way.

I have long shared the feeling of being fed up with the political establishment and not really wanting to vote for any of the available alternatives - a sentiment that is perhaps understandable - but choosing something or someone who thinks primarily of themselves and seems to live in a "parallel universe" is surely not the solution. ;)

P.S.: For context, I was born in 1963.

Moved my reply to the politics thread where its more appropriate as not to clutter this one

..and Gold. Despite woirld turmoil, UK price fell back & hasn't moved in around 2 months,.

While some things like oil or gold price are being manipulated, and the US has openly admitted to doing so, by paper shorting or through release of reserves, physical delivery price ultimately wins.

When you take out something on the order of 30%+ of world refining capacity, prices for distillates naturally go up.

I paid $3.859 per gallon for 87 octane 10% ethanol regular today in Curry, a community north of Jasper, AL.

Wow that's cheap. That said your regular forecourt petrol (gas) is poor quality compared to ours. Our lowest octane fuel is 95 and high quality varies between 97-99 depending on the vendor! 99 is not uncommon even from supermarkets. No sure what grade B7 diesel is, probably measured by different standards to octane. This is at a supermarket forecourt, Unleaded E10 is 95, Premium E5 99. (E = ethanol content).

In the US, we use a different octane rating than in Europe. Europeans use the RON (research octane number) while the US uses an average of the RON and MON (motor octane number). A 91 rating in the US is about 95 or so in Europe.
