I have been reading this forum regularly, usually several times per day, think I have even hit all different hours of the day over the last few weeks.
Several months ago, I definitely saw a ton of problems at the same time others were complaining about forum slowness or errors.
Recently (last several weeks), I have observed no issues whatsoever. So I don't believe the problem today is exactly the same as several months-ago.
I realize this is only 1 data-point, but I think my DNS filters ads, so I wonder if the current cluster of problems might have ad-serving as a key factor..?
Update to my earlier post (#104) in this thread: I finally saw the the cloudflare error page from 25 til about 10 mins ago (ie at least a 15 minute outage).
It would help us “partition the problem” between cloudflare and the main forum server if the forum admins would say if the forum was down or under attack during that time..
Update: Took the last 45 minutes to finally get a clean "New Threads" list.
Today I've seen several different error pages; e.g.: proxy errors, SSL connection errors, and plain connection timeouts (mostly the cloudflare maintenance page, error reference number 522).
Because of the varying errors, I would guess the main server is overloaded or out of memory.
Admins: Have you considered lowering the limits for max # of processes or the max-memory per process?
