Extending outdoor ethernet cable

I have an ethernet cable that was going to be used for a camera installed on a brick wall. The brick wall is now going to have a brick column up against it right where the ethernet cable comes out. So now I need to extend the ethernet cable a little so it is long enough to pass through the brick column.

What's the best way to do this?

Hopefully your cable is solid (not stranded) copper (not CCA/Copper Clad Aluminum). If it's stranded be sure to use male RJ-45 connector rated for stranded cable.

Crimp a male RJ-45 on each end (conform to T-568B specs), test operation and if good then apply dielectric grease to both male RJ-45's and plug into the coupler below and assemble per manufacturer's directions.

Thanks. The cable is solid. What kind of cable would you have connected to the other end of the coupler? I'll have the solid cable that is already there connected to the coupler. Just not sure what to put on the other end.

Thanks

Do they make pre-terminated solid copper CAT6? I only need maybe a 5-10 foot cable. Plan would be to cut one end so I can trim excess cable to the correct length.
yes... typically the pre-terminated cables start @ 1 ft, and go up in size from there

Thanks. Any chance you could post a link to something that would work? When searching solid copper cable, all I'm getting is long rolls of unterminated cables. I'm trying to avoid having to buy tools to terminate cables and a long roll when I really only need maybe 5-10 feet.

edit: maybe something like this?

Just bear in mind that only a cable with NO connector on it will pass through the threaded compression collars and sealing washers.

well looks like i'll have to terminate the cables then. Any tips on what I would need to terminate the ends and what proper rj45 connector to use?
Since you said earlier you'd have to buy and so it's likely you're also not familiar with the process (none of us were at one time) so I recommend going the "easier" router with pass-thru connectors and appropriate crimp tool. I'll get back to you with a couple of links but I'll wager another IPCT member will do so before I can which is a good thing!

I cannot suggest an exact make/model of pass-thru crimper because I don't own one. I've used the non-pass thru types and an old school crimper because when I started making up Ethernet cables over 30 years ago I don't recall such a nice thing so I learned to make them up OK. My yield wasn't 100% right off the bat so it took quite a few tries and several months to be pretty good at it. Now arthritis and poor eyesight try to prevent that!

Try this one at bottom, it should come with a few RJ-45 connectors that are rated for solid conductor cable AND hopefully not larger than 24AWG (like 23 which yours is likely not). The included tester does a continuity check only which is better than nothing but for a newcomer I suggest actually testing the connections by putting it in-circuit "hot and online" and if OK, put on the dielectric grease (helps prevent oxidation and moisture issues outdoors) then close them up tightly. You won't need the anti-snag boots for what you're doing....they will only get in the way.

If you were going to be doing this frequently I'd suggest a better (as in more expensive) brand such as trueCABLE, Platinum Tools or Klein but for your limited use I think this will work OK for you.

CAUTION! Do NOT get any of the dielectric grease in your eyes...wash hands thoroughly after using and before handling your tools or cable!

The three or four different ones I've used have been sized big enough, and the compression rings split, so that they can be used with an already-terminated cable.

I'm the LAST guy you want terminating cables. I have also used ones with compression collars that allowed a fully terminated jack to fit through
