  • Alcohol consumption, particularly heavy alcohol use, is linked to many health conditions, including an increased risk of dementia.
  • However, studies have suggested that consuming small amounts of alcohol might actually decrease the risk of developing dementia.
  • Now, a study has found that low alcohol consumption may not have the suggested protective effect.
  • The study, which used both observational and genetic analysis, suggests that any alcohol consumption may increase a person’s risk of dementia, with the risk increasing as alcohol intake increases.

Well, I have drank probably more beer then fish have water....still kicking.

Wait, where am I?

i started at 12... crashed my first car at 17. The DWI from that cost me my savings $2000 .... and any decent job in the military. At 20, with a gaping headwound from another wreck I was taken to an AA meeting. It would nine more years and of hard knocks and several more cars, and a couple of suspensions before I finally quit at aged 29.
Now I'm 35 years drug and alcohol free. Doc said I had an enlarged liver at 24.
Now America's highways feel safer :)
I think I drove home from work drunk most nights. So statistically speaking 1000 nights driving drunk to 1 official DWI and a few wrecks says I was a smashing success.

I haven't drank in a very, very long time. And I haven't smoked in at least 6 or 7 years....don't miss either of them really....and now, I don't understand how people can afford them.

At 45 yrs of age, my son-in-law had to have both hips replaced, then a few months later he had to have his pelvis fused together.
What's the cause you say, he's an alcoholic, his favorite is beer. Then he has been a smoker for yrs.
Between the beer, and the smoking, it has depleted his calcium in his bones.
I don't know how he's still going. Has he stopped any of those habits you ask? Nope not at all. :smash:
