I'm not sure if this is technically an NVR question or a camera question but i received my NVR16CH-16P-2XI and Color IPC-4k cameras. I get that these are supposed to be white-labeled Dahua cameras but overall this feels like a huge step backwards. The first thing i noticed is that as soon as i plugged in / setup my NVR, all of my tripwire notifications stopped working. So i'm trying to trouble shoot them, thinking maybe i just have to re-add them since its a new NVR, but the camera settings don't have any sort of tripwire / intrusion settings. Am i missing something? How do i setup my motion detection?

Yes the cameras do have IVS tripwire/intrusion

Are you plugging brand new cameras into a brand new NVR? If so? Yes you’ll need to configure each one from scratch. If existing cameras, they retain their settings unless you try making camera settings on the NVR interface which will result in a ckusterf$ck

Motion detection is completely separate from IVS tripwire/intrusion. They have nothing to do with each other.

You need to watch some videos on YouTube and learn the basics of your equipment

I think i have it figured out. the new camera interface is very different. AM i correct in understanding that i can NOT do IVR / tripwire detecton and FACE detection at the same time? At least thats what i understood with the videos. It would be cool if i could load a number of faces into the NVR and have it notify me when a certain person comes ot the house.

In theory you could do FD on the NVR while doing IVS on the camera.

As @bigredfish mentioned;
You can use IVS by camera (you can set this up by the NVR.... there isn't harm in doing so @wittaj).
Then use FD & FR by NVR.

I continue to tell people to use the camera GUI to set up AI/IVS rules and just about any image setting first.

In many cases not because it can’t be done on the NVR (though some important settings can’t) but because new users
1) don’t even know they can login to the camera GUI and
2) they end up here asking why their rules or settings aren’t working as desired

I find it easier/better for the new users and us who troubleshoot for them, to learn the camera GUI first and then discover what settings can be successfully set in the NVR vs the other way around.

you can do IVS on camera (using camera AI resources)

and then face detection/recognition of NVR (using NVR AI resources).. usually limited to 1/2/4/8 channels (depending of type of NVR and used other AI functions)..
