EmpireTech NVR AI vs BlueIris AI?

I am a noob and just getting my sea legs with IPcams and NVRs. I have two IPC-T51IR-ZE and a NVR32CH-AI-S2 NVR that I have been using for a few months (all EmpireTech equipment). I'll be getting more EmpireTech cameras before year end.

I am constantly frustrated by the NVR's web interface. I have a dedicated laptop I use to access it. I have printed and read the manual for it. Half the stuff in there doesn't seem to even apply to my NVR - menus and buttons are mentioned that don't show up on my interface. Nothing is intuitive. Seems like it takes about 2 - 3x as many steps as it should to get things done. I do have the latest manual and the latest firmware installed on the NVR.

I have been thinking about trying Blue Iris. The big thing holding me back is the NVR has AI that seems to mesh well with the cameras.

My question - can anyone weigh in on whether the BlueIris AI is comparable to the AI built into the NVR?

Thanks.

They are two different things. BI AI gives you more control to do things like ID a UPS truck as an example.

But you should do all camera settings within the camera GUI not the NVR.

Most of us here use the camera AI to trigger BI and not use BI AI. Plus we have found the camera AI to be superior over a bigger range of situations.

All of my cameras are Empiretech that I use with BI. I use the camera AI and not BI AI except for two situations. The cameras do mesh well with BI.

There would be a huge learning curve on getting BI AI to work compared to just the camera.

With the camera, it is literally select smart plan, IVS, draw intrusion box and save.

In BI you will have to select the motion area, the model to use, how many images to analyze over what period of time and frequency, etc. Not that it can't be done, but it will have a learning curve.
