You buy one or more tickets, then sit glued to the computer the day the winners are posted, and end up with either an up day, or a down day. Andy posts the prize list before the lottery, and how many tickets will be issued. You can number crunch your odds of winning and see either how much you'll gain if you win a prize, or lose if you don't. If you win a camera, you got a great deal, with the risk of it being a model that isn't a good fit for you. The winning numbers are random, except with one forum member (you know who you are!) whose numbers are programmed to never win![]()
It would appear that the NVR7616-16P-2AI is actually a re-badged Hikvision DS-7616NI-M2/16P, not a Dahua.
What are the key differences between the Hikvision NVR's and the Dahua, please?Yep he said he was going to add Hikvision OEM back to his lineup as many have requested it.
What are the key differences between the Hikvision NVR's and the Dahua, please?
NOTE: It appears that the DS-7616NI-M2/16P was first released in late 2023 Hikvision's M-Series Flagship Pro NVRs Elevate Your Video Security
ALSO: It was said, in an amazon.com review, that Hikvision doesn't support products purchased from amazon. Do they support them if purchased via @EMPIRETECANDY or is the support entirely here on the forum?
So far the Hikvision differences I notice are more POE power availability (200w vs 130w) and 8K max vs 4k max for the NVR16CH-16P-2AI.
We have a mixed system, most recent cams are from @EMPIRETECANDY plus some older Reolinks and one other Dahua rebrand.HIK NVR is for HIK cameras, Dahua NVR is for Dahua cameras..
main difference is in what ecosystem you want to live (camera, NVR, UI/UX, mobile app)..
this forum is mostly Dahua forum, so You will not find here big love for HIK..
HIK M-line is not AI NVR (like HIK Acusense or DeepinMind series).. It can receive AI information from HIK cameras, but not add extra AI analytics to them...
Both Dahua/HIK resellers / country representatives supports only equipment bought by them (official channels).
If you buy something from Andy, you have support from Andy plus here on the forum...

They're all working on our 8-ch Empiretech/Dahua NVR8CH-8P-2AI - but I need 16 channels now.
In the $400. range I'm taking from your reply that I really want to go with the Empiretech/Dahua NVR16CH-16P-2AI & not the Hikvision?
Thanks.
If you have mostly Dahua cams and want to buy some extra ones, then Dahua NVR is way to go...
ps. I never understood why Andy sells 8 channel recorders at all, if the surcharge for 16 channels is around 20-40 USD...
While I have you ... one more question, please?
If a camera has AI, e.g. the EmpireTech IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3, is AI in the NVR even necessary?
Is the NVR AI for camera that don't have built-in AI?
