Don't Mess With a Mama Deer

A coyote starts to chase a fawn. When mama deer finds out she chases away the coyote.

I often cross paths with deer when outside the house. They've always been non-aggressive and slowly walk away, unless they're startled, then they bolt away. I still fear them. Maybe I could take on a smaller doe, but when there's more than one, or any with the pointy things on their head, I'm always watching out for a potential attack.

Mamas of most animals such as deer, bear, fox, 'coon, etc. can be timid except when it comes to protecting their young then it's "watch out." When I lived in N. Cal there was a woman jogging alone up at Mt. Tamalpais park that ran up on a mother cougar with a young one. Needless to say the jogger is no longer with us.

Around here many hikers expect to see wild pigs on the trails but look out especially for sows with piglets.
