Does an SFP uplink port "steal" an available port?

Thanks bp2008 for your replay, it helps. That was also my initial tought but having no experience, I'm quite confused at present.

I can't precise, but I think I've read comments here that made me believe that using an uplink port invalidates a "normal" port, that could mean a 4+1 (uplink) port switch let you 3 free ports instead of 4, and the same for an 8+1 or 2, 16+1 or 2, or in this case probably the 3rd. (SFP) also.

Can someone bring some more light? Thanks again.
