Hi!

I have a DAHUA system with 9 cameras: 4x IPC-HFW3849T1-AS-PV-PRO, 3x IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO and 2x IPC-PDW3849-A180-AS-PV.

NVR is NVR5216-EI2.

I have been strugling for few days with settings on all cameras as i have problems with DMSS playback which is skipping recorded videos - green recordings and blue (motion) recordings.

Recording is turned on for General and motion on all cameras 24/7.

I managed to find settings for 4x IPC-HFW3849T1-AS-PV-PRO and 3x IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO, where i hade to change Encoding strategy from AI to general, set FPS to 20 nad CBR and Bit rate to 4096.

For now playback on these 7 cameras is quite OK, but i can`t find the right settings for 2x IPC-PDW3849-A180-AS-PV, which are 180 degree cameras with 2 lenses.

I found it best to leave settings on default for these 2 cameras , but still i have problems with skipping playback all the time on green recordings and blue (motion recordings). Usually when there is motion recorded (blue) it starts playing it, and then just skips a lot of video and starts playing next motion,…

Sometimes i can get green recording to play then again it skips a lot fo video and jums to some motion whic is also skipped…

On all cameras there are latest Firmwares installed an NVR also with latest Firmware.

I tried also with VPN connection from my android phone, and here all works smoothly even with default settings on all cameras.

So problem is only using P2P service, where playback is skipping videos and i can`t find the right settings for 2x 180 degree cameras.

Doeas anyone have these same cameras and have normal DMSS playback?

Thank you!

4096kb/s is very low for 8MP cameras. You could be closer to 8196kb/s

Here's my suggestion on settings:
H.265
AI encoding off
VBR (saves on storage).
8196 or higher kb/s.

Kb/s is data rate per second from the cameras.
VBR is variable bit rate. That allows the camera to output an appropriate data rate for the current video scene and increase data rate when there's more motion.
Too low of a data rate and all the video information is being forced into that small data rate. Which leads to loss and skipping footage. Think of it like roof gutters catching rain water, the down pipe needs to be bigger enough to transport all the water.
I've had a stadium with 100's of Axis cameras experiencing the same problem because a network switch was limiting data rate. The cameras outright lost signal when their was constant motion from crowds.

Other issues of skipping videos can occur from a failing or bad HDD. This is when the HDD's memory cache buffer isn't enough or failing. E.g. using a computer rated HDD rather than CCTV rated HDD.

Hi!

I will try these settings and let you know.
I have 2 HDD`s installed 1x 8TB WD Purple and 1x 4TB WD purple so HDDs are for survaillance.
All cameras are connected to Dahua 16 port PoE Switch.
hese are settings i wil ltry now...

I tried with this settings and same results, playback is skippig green and blue...
I then tried with Bit rate of 10240 and i think skipping is even worse...
Don`t know what else i can set...

I run much higher bitrates than described or suggested and CBR, H.264.h and have no issues.

Its most likely the Dahua P2P server(s) you are hitting, or more likely the connectivity to them, which are region specific.

I tried all possible setting and i can`t get playback to run normally.
I have IVS rules also on these cameras. I added IVS rules only to NVR for these 2 180 degree cameras an no effect.
I disabled motion detection on cameras and set only IVS rule on NVR.
Time sync is OK, NVR is on NTP. All cameras have latest firmware... So for now im left with VPN connection only to see playback... However i cant have VPN while in car as Android auto dissconects as my Ubiquiti WiFiman doesn`t have split tunneling...
Dont know what else to do. Spend quite some money on these cameras and now DMSS is useless to check plabacks...
I changed from old 8CH NVR and 8 older cames of Dahua, where all was working ok, now with this new cameras i have issues with DMSS use...
