DMSS iOS No event thumbnails in playback/event list (Dahua NVR5216-XI HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO)

Hi,

I’m using a Dahua setup with a DHI-NVR5216-XI and several HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO cameras.

In the DMSS iOS app, I don’t get any preview thumbnails for events in the playback / event list. The gallery view just shows generic entries without showing the actual trigger image (person/vehicle etc.).

What I would like:
A gallery/event list where I can already see the snapshot/thumbnail of the triggering event (similar to what the NVR web interface shows with AI snapshots).

What I have already checked:

  • Recording is working (continuous + event)
  • AI events (SMD / human detection) are detected correctly
  • Push notifications work
  • Snapshots seem to exist on the NVR (visible via web interface / AI search)
Questions:

  1. Is it possible in DMSS (iOS) to enable event thumbnails in the event list or gallery view?
  2. Does this depend on specific settings (e.g. snapshot linkage, video vs live push, substream, etc.)?
  3. Or is this simply a limitation of the DMSS app?
Any tips or working configurations would be appreciated.

This is it as far as I know
In the Event list you get recent thumbnails , in the individual camera events you get the generic image.

It seems to be a limitation in the app

I've had dahua cameras for about 6 months now and the thumbnails never worked. Didn't change anything and the thumbnails started showing up this week. Conversely my IVS notifications are now intermittently failing.
 
Sounds like your app updated.

I turn off updates and only do so manually about 1x a year or less. Once I find a release that works well I leave it alone.

You may try going back into the Device Details/Multi channel alarm subscription and saving your choices again. I've had updates mess with my alarm choices
