DMSS App Not Connecting to Local NVR

I am attempting to log into my NVR via the DMSS app and it's not taking the IP when I am attempting to add it as a local device. Do I need to create an online account to have the app work? I know in older versions this was not required.

Amcrest View Pro 2 will work on your local LAN. That's what I use at home and DMSS when away from home.

why cant you use the DMSS locally? do you VPN into your DMSS app when not home?

I can use DMSS locally within home LAN. I prefer Amcrest, it's like the older less complex DMSS.

I can confirm DMSS is capable of using local connections.

Devices added to DMSS locally are working for me.
Plus icon > Add device > IP/Domain > Select device type > Enter IP, username, password > Save.
