I have a DCS PowerSeries 5010 (832) alarm system at home. The system is old but works well. I have had it monitored (using VOIP) by a company that was, in my opinion, reliable and inexpensive. This company got recently bought by a company that I do not trust and, in short, I do not expect anything good to come from the new company.

I started to look at the self-monitoring options and I found out the EyezOn Envisalink EVL_4EZR product that seems to be an easy to install and use option. If I am not mistaken it works with the EyezOn Mobile phone/tablet application. Unfortunately this app has a relatively low rating, 2.6 out of 5, with strong complaints about the quality of the app.

I noticed some threads in this forum discussing the EVL_4EZR product but they are relatively old (2019). I would like to ask you some questions about EVL_4EZR and the phone app. Here are the questions:

1. Can users of the EVL_4EZR product and the EyezOn Mobile app share the pros and cons of them as they see it after a while of using them? Please share any concerns and hints that you may have.

2. Are there other than EyezOn self-monitoring options you would recommend?

3. Can one use EVL_4EZR to do both self-monitoring through IP/internet (this is what the product is designed to do) and, at the same time, continue to use professional monitoring through the current VOIP connectivity? In other words, instead of disconnecting the 4-wire phone cable from the home phone loop (VOIP) and connecting it to EVL_4EZR, can one keep the current connection to the home phone loop and, in parallel, connecting it to EVL_4EZR for self-monitoring hoping that both paths would work ok? I think this subject was mentioned in this forum in 2019 but it is not clear to me from that thread if it was actually tried.

Thank you!

The EyezOn website only cites 5010 (832) for compatibility, it does not mention any board versions. Would you be able to offer more details on which DSC board versions are/are not compatible with invisalink? Or a place where such details are listed? Thank you.

I haven't installed an envisalink with a dsc panel, but other communicators I have used with dsc panels needed certain versions to support remote arm/disarm. Envisalink may do all versions of the 832.

Thank you! So, no issues with the phone app? Also, sorry for what is likely a trivial question but does the app requires you to give it the installer and/or master code?

Perhaps, initially, assuming no changes are made to the system, the codes are not needed. But any kind of a system change, like adding a sensor, etc., would require one or the other code I'd think. I assume that changes like adding a sensor/zone can be done through the phone app.

Thank you for the guides! So, does the Connect2Go app, mentioned on the screenshot, replace the EyezOn Mobile app? I know this sounds like a trivial question but everywhere I look at EVL-4EZR they talk about the phone app but do not state its name...??? I see the Connect2Go in the AppStore with customer rating of 2.3 (even lower than the 2.6 of EyezOn Mobile).

Not sure about the app. Have not heard any complaints from anyone yet. Its used for arm disarm remotely and alerts. What more would you need it for? I personally use the ring alarm and installed it before they went to subscription for basic app functions. I do have a used DCS Neo alarm Panel sitting in my shop and some day hope to install that along with a Envistalink module but the Neo requires another UNO board which I haven't figured out yet.

I am clearly not a professional; I am just a user wanting to dig a bit deeper to find out what EVL-4EZR offers prior to, perhaps, buying and using it. I just do not want to find out after buying it that it cannot do things I may need. For more than 2 decades I have watched professionals (re)programming my DSC system using a keypad and series of very cryptic codes. Occasionally I did some simple programming myself (like replacing fobs) getting directions (and the codes) through the phone. All this could be streamlined with a phone app; but I simply do not know if it is. I am wondering/asking how thorough is the GUI in the Connect2Go/EyezOn Mobileif app and if it allows, for example, to add a new zone/sensor to the system or, if needed, to set up the alarm system from scratch. This may be needed if an owner of a DSC system does not have the installer code for the system and may end up resetting the system to factory defaults.

I do now know your exact DSC model # capabilities or if it's newer or older...
I have the DSC 1834? Has been nearly 4 years since purchased and installed.
It is programmed by keypad. Which I find AOK only because I am a business telephone systems guy from the 2000's where you had to do the same to program phone system before GUI interface became a thang.
I do have the EVL installed & connected to my network. I have my Home Assistant interact with my DSC for alarm purposes nicely without a hitch.
There is a serial modem cable possibility to program my DSC model... but never got it to work right and went straight back to keypad programming.
Maybe one day, I can revisit and figure out the GUI programming.
For now, I'm happy.
