Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

As I expected, the updated T24PRO-X camera appears to be an incremental improvement to the previous generation (Color4M-TL) camera. Not sure why @EMPIRETECANDY changed the naming scheme as this is V2 of the same camera. Based on the previous video, it looks like they corrected the color issues the previous version has out of the box (easily corrected by switching from the Soft profile to Standard, and boosting Saturation to 55). Based on this video, I'm disappointed that it still tries to brighten the image so aggressively at night—often resulting in washout of faces and other brighter areas. With less brightening, they could get away with less noise reduction and faster shutter speeds, which would mean less motion blur (since we're essentially stuck with the balance that the AI decides, even with manual control as it compensates by stacking more frames). I imagine their license plate over-exposure protection is just as clunky as before (the camera abruptly darkens by 90% and still manages to smear, and then flashes back to full brightness, back and forth)—despite being so unpolished, I have to admit it does do a great job capturing plates at night. Just wish it would start from a darker point and use dynamic WDR to pull the plate into readability (or the face out of overexposure) instead of abruptly flashing back and forth. Hopefully, with their apparent fixing of the white LEDs oscillating on and off, auto LED mode can now go all the way to 100% (instead of stopping at 50%), and hopefully they don't go out now when over-exposure correction is active. And hopefully they have added the ability for the LED to be dim at night and automatically brighten when motion is detected (I'm not holding my breath though).

Unfortunately, as with most reviews of these cameras, the video focused on how it performs with no light rather than exploring its full FPS, nighttime lit motion performance (which would have to be manually requested as auto mode appears to stay at 12fps at night just like the previous version). That said, it seems to have slightly better clarity in detail (I can get this with the previous version camera by dropping 2D NR from 50 to 25 or below), while also being less grainy in low light (dropping 2D NR makes the previous version even more grainy). It seems to see a little better with no light—although the difference is small enough that I suspect it's 100% due to the new F0.8 vs old F1.0 lens. It will be interesting to see how it behaves when the gain or shutter time is manually lowered, although I totally expect it to behave like the previous version, aggressively stacking frames to compensate, resulting in the same amount of motion blur with worse noise/color.

But these are a NO to me. Even when his tablet was down and not blinding out his face, I couldn't find a single frame that would be usable for ID.

I get that even the 5442 doesn't have every frame perfect, but you advance frame by frame and you can usually get a few shots or more that is the image you need.

The crazy color camera use too much AI on its pics, you can't use these cams at low light places as normal 54 IR Camera, the LED illumination has its disadvantages, can't reach too far away. So that is why Still pics always good under the AI help and when have moving objects in it will be going crazy. This have proved by the @bigredfish months ago.

Sure at good light places it will be good. But different cameras use at different places with different purpose.

I think the market too chase on the full color,i hope we still use IR ones as the main product, and hybrid full color are choices for customers.
