Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

The white LED's with Smart Illum are great for a porch or entry door just to clarify.

54pro ZE : Newest Firmware from Andy.

Shutter : 10,67
Gain : 58
NR : 35
Sharpness : 25

Yep thats pretty close to what I saw and similar distance, without the added benefit of streetlights. It's color, but it ain't a great image

The scene looks good but for motion you will have to suffer less brightness...maybe, I would go:

Shutter: 0-4ms at least
Gain: 69
NR: below 10
Sharpness: 0 to 9

Fact is unless you can get serious light (4000 lumen+) then compromises with digital fuzzies (@bigredfish :D:thumb:) need to be made. This is not a bad thing if it gives you a better chance of ID. These cameras, or any for that matter, cannot defy the laws of optics or light. Sorry to keep bashing low NR and low sharpness, hours of testing in bad light brought me to that conclusion.

Gonna try it. Thanks. :)

Maybe knock sharpness to zero if it is looking to grainy. Can even try NR to nothing but still enabled, surprising how much better that can look, it might not be clean but should be better for motion. Keep the iris above 65 but maybe below 85 also if you can, will brighten it a touch.

It wouldn't be a problem to run the camera in black and white, as there is a TIOC 4m or the new AS in 3.6mm coming soon that will run in color.
that being said im sure you can get a better color image (video) at nght without all that ghosting?

im sure the pros cam chime in.

It is on the limit honestly, pushing the gain will cause other issues, dropping the shutter will darken it quite a lot. Just have to try shutter below 2 or 3 and see how it plays out. Otherwise just go with IR and tune that to suit, still have to keep shutter low (fast) though.

I had similar experience last night.

He’s on the same razor edge I was. Just not enough light

You know what might work in that scene?
Add another ZE camera right beside that one.

Leave one in IR and yet use IVS to trigger the white LED's on both. (white LEDs can come on without switching to color)

You'd end up with more light on target for the one in color, and more definition from that same light for the one in IR.

Thats essentially where I'm at but my other camera is a S3 Z4 without white lights. They both perform really well in B&W/IR with the added LED's kicking in. I use one for far and one for near.
I'll try and get video up tonight to show what I mean.

Or just add a 4000 lumen motion floodlight with a timer for say 60 seconds

I was planning to run the 54pro in Ir and add a 4m tioc or the 54pro as next to it on the left and run it in color. At the time, I was able to run the tioc with 0-4 and 50. I still have a 2,8mm here.

Thank all of you for your testing and sharing experiences. Today I installed my lottery IPC-T54PRO-AS. The visible light and speaker are nice, but I don't think I'm really going to use them.
(I don't like to have visible lights on during the night; even less lights that turn on and off frequently).

I have 2 camera's on top of each other at our driveway. The new Pro replaces a IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 on top, and the S3 moves down to replace a 5231R-ZE.
The 5231 was in use for animal detection (the 54's weren't great in the beginning) and audio (that particular 54 has terrible unusable audio, don't know why).
The 5231 has now done it's service; I checked; I installed it exactly 8 years ago; on 1 November 2017! Funny coïncidence.

Now I can dial in the new 54Pro and compare it (somewhat) against the S3 and all the posts in this thread will certainly help with that.
