Dahua NVR16CH-AI-S2 P2P not working on mobile network

I do hear various things about the P2P servers from various regions,. Europe seems to always have trouble? I know they have done a major overhaul to the system so I'm not current on details.
I have no problem here in Floriduh

I just got the NVR32CH-4AI-S2 with that 5.xx firmware and its garbage. All HUGE fonts have to zoom out to 75% then other text is tiny. Only works with the latest DMSS in p2p. Wont work with ANY smart PSS at all. Totally useless for businesses which its designed for being a Rack Mount 4HDD NVR. Its like using a Ring or some cheap Chinese DVR. Dahua has gone 20 years backwards on this firmware.

As for your issue, are you using the latest DMSS as this 5.xx firmware seems to only work with that horrible app (all my clients use EzViewerpro).
I dont have the same NVR as you but its a 5.xx one too. In fact device discovery did not even work at all, I had to do a firmware update to get that working. Buggy and unfinished firmware. I wish I could send this back and get my clients money back. I have lots of 608-XIs in the field plus dozens more older ones with no issues.

Follow up FYI:
The 5216-16P-EI2 I have with the "NEXT" fw will only work on P2P if added to the DMSS Dahua account.

When you log out of the account, the NVR literally disappears from DMSS

This is a Dahua fuckup meant to force you to register the NVR on their system.

Down the road, this will be used to extract a fee from you for using the equipment/mobile app.

Just like every other business, looking for reoccurring revenue.
A large medical company in my area has been accused of promoting prescription based care with the requirements of 3 month checkups to continue the prescription. Quickbooks used to be a one time purchase, now you pay a yearly fee.

New NVRs a pain in the ass.
New cameras a pain in the ass.

Is there a trend here? My 9 year old NVR just keeps chugging along without causing any grief.

You are not going to believe this. The new NVR that I've been talking about has been connected to the internet for about a week. I do plan on having the owner sign up for a Dahua account but have not done it yet.
And as mentioned I have jumped through hoops to get this guy online with P2P. and along with DMSS, SmartPSS Lite was a no show. The NVR has been at my house for that last 3 days and today when I startup SmartPSS Lite the NVR shows on line and works with SmartPSS Lite through the internet. Looks like all the functions work. Still doesn't show online on my cell but we know why.

The NVR I just bought is the NVR16CH-AI-S2, it has been online for about a week, a few days at one work and now at my house. The entire time it was a no show on the SmartPSS Lite app. This morning 2-24-2025 it shows online in my SmartPSS Lite app on my work PC and all functions work. So something changed. Maybe they're still working out the bugs.
 
Ok downloaded the latest SmartPSS Lite - Jan 2026 - and it now shows up/connects

So

DMSS
1- must be logged into Dahua account on DMSS to view remote (added via serial #) with P2P enabled

2- If not logged into Dahua account on DMSS the new NVR will simply not appear

SmartPSS local on LAN
1- must use new version of SmartPSS otherwise it does not connect to the new NVR using the “NEXT” firmware if added by serial number using P2P
