I have spent a considerable amount of time setting up my old Dahua nvr system. Cameras, network config, lighting, etc. I just received my new NVR and am going to upgrade but is there a way to backup and restore all the settings? Like a config export / restore?

Camera settings are stored on the camera for the most part. I have 7-8 year old cameras sitting around just plugged one in today. That was 3 NVRs ago and they’re just like they were

So really unless you setup NVR AI based rules separate from the camera, it’s mostly storage and network tab that takes 10-15 minutes

I’ve never used a config file for my NVR swaps but most dahua NVRs have one.
Not sure that these are compatible from one generation/model to another though? Kinda doubt it but I could be wrong

what was your old NVR model?
Were you using the NVR’s built in PoE ports? Same on new one?

If the old one was not AI enabled it’s really just on setup
  • giving it the same password as your old one (which should also be same as your cameras)
  • setting time/region

then on login
  • change IP and gateway to same as old one (it will default to 192.168.1.108)
  • set record schedule and mode under Storage

That’s about it.

Plug cameras in one at a time and be sure it assigns them IPs and you see the green indicator showing it’s connected and talking to the NVR

Awesome. Thank you so much.
