Will be installing a outside surveillance system sometime within the next year. I think I want an NVR system with 6-8 Dahua cameras. I have bought nothing yet, just been reading up. There is a brand new NVR for sale N52B3P4 16 Channel for $200. I have a few questions. Is this model too old for the cameras being sold today. Do I need to be concerned about the model/firmware of the NVR like the cameras (china, usa, international). This is my first install. Thank in advance for your input.

It will be fine.

I think that’s the US part number for this one, which is what I use.
Read through the specs to be certain but I’m pretty sure.

It’s a workhorse.
The only things you’ll be missing is larger bandwidth available if you were to max it out. And it has limited AI by recorder, but 99.9% of the AI you’ll need is done on the camera anyway.
It is EOL so you know

Step up to newer still in production will be 2X the money

Curious about where you found that model? As BRF mentioned it’s EOL just like every other dahua N/A part. I’d like to buy a couple just for clients warranty. I wouldn’t recommend you buying it for the same reason; it craps out 8 months down the road you’re probably not going to get a replacement. I’d go with empire Andy’s international models or the now Luminys US from someone/where that’ll give you a good warranty.

Mines been running since 2017,
Pretty sure they are/were made in the same place, different sticker

Yep, have the same US model at my house about as long. Back then if clients wanted LPRs they had to get the n52 if they wanted to fully utilize them. I’ve only replaced about 6 of them over the years, all but one were lightning, last one was for a fan that got real noisy. That one had multiple cats and dogs in the environment and instead of sending me a $10 fan Dahua just sent a new nvr 4 years after install.

I have a backup one that lost the built in PoE switch. But it still works fine, just connect to an external switch
