I am replacing my 8+ year old Dahua IPC-HDW5x31R-ZE cameras. I have had very good results with these older cameras.

Background - I use the 6mp old camera for my long drive in front of home for better resolution and 2mp ones everywhere else because of the great night picture of the famed IPC-HDW5231R-ZE. I have a Dahua DHI-NVR5216-4KS2 that I will be replacing down the line...

My two candidates I found were Dahua IPC-T5xIR-ZE & IPC-T5xPRO-ZE. I would like to hear members thoughts on these two cameras or even other Dahua cameras I should consider.

Thank You.

Get the T54IR (5442 series) while you still can. Best sensor. Unfortunately they are being phased out

The 54PRO is interesting primarily because it has white LEDs that can be activated along with IR. The white LED's being motion activated help with a color night image, but at the expense of quality
Current version has a subpar sensor and blurry/fuzzy low light image.
It also has a speaker for two way talk

If the color image at night is important, look at the 4M-T. Still not the image quality of the 5442 but adequate. It also has onboard dual IR/white LEDs
* Note the 5442 can be made to go to color at night with enough white light such as a motion flood of 3000+ lumens.

For 4K the best is the 4K-X and/or 4K-T

Again its a sensor issue. These have a large sensor that no other Dahua 4k fixed cameras have.
Downside is they are white LED's only (or off) no IR and can't see IR

There are no other 4K cameras I can recommend for night unless you have stadium style lighting

I was going with the IPC-HDW5x31R-ZE cameras. Andy was to take a look at the Pro. Getting ready to order a a test camera before I order the 10 others that I need.

+1 above. A 2MP or 4MP with proper varifocal capabilities will beat the current 8MP wide angle fixed lens at distance all night long.

Not even a well lit driveway at night at 40 feet will have IDENTIFY quality with the current 8MP fixed lens.

Haven't been working with cameras in almost 10 years. Andy turned me on to the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE and they were great !!

Are you saying I should just use a IPC-T541R-ZE instead of IPC-HDW5831R-ZE for the front drive?

TY
