I have added a Dahua IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E Camera to monitor an intersection, ten feet off ground, excellent video, great clarity.

While setting up I used the Smart Plan with People, Vehicles, Etc. And it was recording everything, even blocks away and tree leaves moving.

I lowered the sensitivity level to Medium, Low and it helped however the neighbor has a motion detection light that illuminates the street sign across the street triggering hundreds of emails for the camera.

I tried changing to IVS from SMD, but it also sends false alarms. included is a photo of the sign and how it triggers alarm emails. I have tried limiting the hours of the camera function from dawn until dusk with no luck.

I am looking for a direction such as, scheduling, sensitivity, filter, hours for recording, currently grasping at light and it's effect on the AI of the camera.

Are you running on default/auto settings?

Are you sure MD isn't still turned on.

Is Accupick turned off?

Do you have an SD card in the camera and can confirm via playback with the IVS lines drawn on that it is indeed IVS drawing a red box around the sign and triggering?

Are you using BI? If so it has been known to turn MD on even if off.

And we have seen people using browsers other than Internet Explorer showing MD is off, but when they use Internet Explorer (the preferred browser of these cameras), it is actually on.

No on the Auto default settings. I don't know how to access Accupick? NO SD Card in the camera. Thanks, I will see if the red box is there tonight.

I am controlling via the NVR so I don't use the IE for management.

You need to login to the actual camera Web GUI and make your changes there, not on the NVR

If you use MD or SMD you will get many false alerts unless you dial back sensitivity so much it doesnt matter,.

IVS is the way to go with that scene and camera
If you're not logging into the camera Web GUI you are fighting competing settings

In the Web GUI you would first go to 'Events" and shut off MD/SMD
Then to Smart Plan and make sure ONLY IVS is chosen
Then setup your IVS rules ON the Camera

Just dont include the sign.

Either tripwire or Intrusion box should work, I like to use both, tripwire zig zag inside an Intrusion box

You can also set direction for multiple rules so you would get separate alerts depending on direction of travel.

On the camera Turn OFF VMD/Acupick in Smat Plan if you have it.
In Smart plan the only thing that should be enabled is IVS

What NVR model do you have?

I have a: NVR5216-16P-I 16Ch 16PoE 4K AI when I turn select IVS, ACCUPICK turns on automatically. I am tired working on it and will tackle it tomorrow. Thanks for the great help.

Yes you have to uncheck Acupick and hit Save the Camera will reboot.
When you log back in it will be off and you can enable IVS
