Hi all,

I bought the following Dahua equipment a few years ago but haven’t really kept up with the CCTV/intercom scene since then:

  • Dahua VTO2202F-P door station
  • Dahua VTH1660CH indoor monitor
I’m currently doing some work on the house and have the opportunity to replace/update the system, so I’m wondering what the better options are these days.

With the VTO2202F-P, my main issue was always the field of view. It didn’t really capture someone standing right up against the door/wall, so there was a blind spot directly in front/alongside the entrance. Apart from that, I was reasonably happy with it.

I also have the VTH1660CH, although I was never particularly impressed with the image quality of the indoor monitor.

I’m wondering:

  1. Has Dahua improved significantly in this area over the last few years?
  2. Are there better alternatives to Dahua now for a video doorbell/intercom system?
  3. If staying with Dahua, what would be the current equivalent/better models to look at?
  4. Ideally I’d like something with a much wider/better field of view, particularly close to the door, while still having good image quality.
  5. Is it worth moving to something like Hikvision, UniFi, or another manufacturer?
I’m happy to replace the whole system if there are substantially better options now. Any recommendations from people who have used the newer systems would be appreciated.
