Dahua CCTV for Family House – 2449 Full Color vs 2449 Smart Dual Light?

Hello everyone,
I am writing from Hungary and I am planning a Dahua-based CCTV system for a detached family house. I would appreciate your opinions and recommendations before purchasing.
The goal is to monitor all doors, windows, pedestrian entrance and vehicle gate.
Environment:
  • The front gate and pedestrian entrance have public street lighting nearby.
  • The backyard and garden side have no permanent lighting.
  • There are a few motion-activated lights, but they provide only limited illumination.
Planned equipment:
  • NVR: Dahua NVR4216-EI or Dahua NVR5216-EI
  • PoE Switch: Dahua CS4010-8ET-110
  • Storage: 1 × WD Purple 4TB
  • Cameras:
    • 1 × IPC-HDW2449T-ZS-IL-27135 (motorized varifocal, intended for the main pedestrian entrance)
    • 6 × IPC-HDW2449T-S-LED-0280B-PRO
      or
    • 6 × IPC-HDW2449TM-S-IL-0280B
My main question is about the camera choice:
Would you choose the Full Color LED version (2449T-S-LED-PRO) or the Smart Dual Light version (2449TM-S-IL) for a residential installation with limited backyard lighting?

Do you see any weak points in this design?
Would you replace any component and, if so, why?

Hi! Here is quick feedback on your Dahua WizSense setup:

  1. Camera Choice: Go with IPC-HDW2449TM-S-IL (Smart Dual Light). Running white LEDs all night in a dark backyard attracts bugs/cobwebs and causes light pollution. Dual Light stays on invisible IR and only switches to warm light on human/vehicle detection for better active deterrence.
  2. Storage Sizing: A 4TB WD Purple is too small for 7 x 4MP cameras—it will only yield ~9–11 days of continuous recording at standard H.265 bitrates. Run your exact FPS and retention goals through a CCTV storage calculator; upgrading to 8TB is recommended.
  3. NVR Upgrade: Spend the extra on the NVR5216-EI. The 384 Mbps bandwidth headroom, stronger decoding, and AcuPick support make it far more future-proof than the 4-series.
  4. PoE Switch: An 8-port switch leaves only 1 spare port for 7 cameras. Consider a 16-port switch now so you can add extra cameras or a doorbell later without replacing hardware.
