Hi
I use a USB Cam with an CS Mount and I looking for some good lense from Aliexpress or other who is in Europe available who let passt the IR Light truth and have an screw mount for Filter in the front. It is very important that the let pass as much light into as possible. I want to use them for making Pictures in the IR Area just for fun. Currently I own only a zoom lense who work perfectly.
Optical Filter are on the way to. Thanks

Choosing the Right Lens

  • Select lenses with a large aperture, ideally between f/1.2 and f/1.4, which maximize the amount of light entering the camera and improve sensitivity for IR imaging.
  • Look for lenses that specifically mention IR-correction or are labeled VIS-NIR. These are designed for machine vision or security applications and perform well for IR photography.
  • Ensure the lens has a front filter thread (commonly M27×0.5 or M30.5×0.5) so you can easily attach IR-pass filters. Always check the product details, as not all C/CS-mount lenses include this feature.

Where to Shop

  • In Europe, reputable brands like Edmund Optics, Schneider, and Kowa offer machine-vision lenses rated for visible and IR use. Many models come with front filter threads and are distributed widely in the EU.
  • For budget-friendly options, platforms like AliExpress feature multiple sellers of “CS-mount 6 mm/8 mm f/1.2 IR corrected 1/1.8 with M30.5 filter thread” lenses. This search string can help you find affordable products suitable for IR experiments.

Filter Solutions

  • If your chosen lens does not have a filter thread up front, you can use C-mount screw-in filters, which fit between the camera and the lens (in the mount or extension tube). This is a popular method for using IR-pass filters, such as those for 720 nm or 850 nm wavelengths.
  • Be aware that focusing in the IR spectrum can be slightly different from visible light. IR-corrected lenses greatly reduce focus shift and deliver sharper results.
