Yea I thought about/tried that as well... but I think it might be broken too.... with night highlighted I don't see a way to adjust "night" in to the schedule.
I'll just adjust the "daytime" settings during the day tomorrow and see if it switches to night time settings tomorrow night.
ahh.. yea... that might have been it, I was using firefox and chrome.... I'll try edge in ie mode real quick.
not working. I'm done with this stupid thing tonight. I'll change settings tomorrow during day and see if it switches back tomorrow night. My patience for this thing right now is quickly lowering.
Now you know why some just run 24/7 B/W lol.
And why companies like Ring have an audience - granted a Ring cam will never capture plates LOL, but people like simple hang it up and provide power and scan a QR code LOL.

I won't buy any cameras anymore that need Internet Explorer....I'm on W-11 and not going back to 10.....so I'll just wait until shit evolves a bit more I guess....Then again...I could be hit be an Amazon truck delivering Empire Tech's.
Is it so that the 5241-z12e has also gotten this new UI? 
No way to revert back to an older firmware to get rid of it?
I am thinking of buying one of these cams myself for LPR purposes and after reading a number of threads here regarding the subject, I was thinking of setting it up using BI to send http commands to provide zoom/focus numbers and of course day/night settings like I do with my 5442s

That is correct. It is a different chipset so you cannot flash the old GUi firmware.
It is just a matter of figuring out the API for the new GUI. Someone will. It might be me lol. For all wr know the focus and zoom API may be the same, and we already figured out the API for day and night.

Many of us use this utility, either the stand alone or within BI, to force the focus and zoom for day and night as well so that we are not relying on the camera itself to do it. And keep in mind this may shift over time as well and you need to re-adjust.

I wanted to use stronger noise reduction at night and weaker during the day, but Dahua seems to have made a mess of the profile management. On most cameras, there doesn't seem to be a way to have the camera switch automatically between Day and Night profiles when the camera changes between...ipcamtalk.com
This utility is a good start. I had much better luck writing a script to do it myself. I have an Ambient weather station which reports solar radiation. If that number goes under 5, I go into night mode. If it veers above 6, it goes into day mode. I had a lot of problems at dusk/dawn depending on the weather....
Yeah, I have a 4K-T which uses the new GUI. The day/night commands are a little different but I am using them.
Do you believe this cam with the new chipset will be as good for LPR as the old trusted 5241 z12e?
Surprisingly my daytime focus settings were auto-adjusted to the right settings... Now to wait to see what happens tonight. fingers crossed that they will auto adjust correctly again!

Daytime usually isn't the problem because there is enough light for it to focus, so it has already focused on something in your field of view that is close to the focus for the car.
The problem is at night with a mostly black image, the camera cannot see anything to focus on, so when a plate comes thru, it is too fast for it to focus.
The only way they will auto adjust to the night focus number is if you have set up a profile for Day and a profile for Night and use the schedule in the camera to tell it when to switch profiles OR you are using one of the many ways outside of the camera to send API commands to tell it to change shutter.
No... but in the camera it's on "Manual Focus" - what I'm saying is that the manual focus settings seem to have auto-adjusted back to what I had them set at yesterday.
So far the new IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E-S2 cams have been working GREAT for LPR... tweaking the setting in BlueIris has been a bit of a PITA - but once dialed in the cams do a great job both in day AND at night. The following clips are about 125 feet or so from the cams zoomed in @ 1020 & 1060
You don't understand what I am saying LOL.
If you are not running a schedule or an outside utility to force it into a DAY or NIGHT profile, then you are only running one profile. That one profile will adjust during the day when enough light even though you set it to manual for at night. So what happened is daylight came and the focus adjusted and just happens to be on your focus number for the day. Come tonight, you will see that it stays at what the focus number is right now. That is because the camera internally is running an arbitrary day/night "profile" based on available light, so come tonight it will stay at this day focus number.
