I have the Z12E for a few months now. In talking around here, I came to know that you can actually set manual focus associated with a camera profile (i.e., for Day or Night). So far so good.

The problem is that you can only set manual focus on the Live page, not on the Camera page on WebGui 5. As a result, if you want to check or set the manual focus, you have to switch between those pages, and every time I switch to Live, the profile goes back to the default scheduled profile for that time of day and it's not possible to keep the camera profile you are trying to set. I also noticed in one occasion that Live goes back to the default scheduled profile, but in the process the manual focus number remains stuck to the profile I was editing on the Camera page (i.e., 670). Refreshing the Live page then shows the correct focus number of the current profile (i.e., 640). So, there are these nitty gritty bugs that make this experience more annoying. I think the earlier version of the GUI had the manual focus directly on the camera profile page.

My question is: how can you set and save the manual focus for a specific profile on the Camera page?

Bonus question if anybody has a Tendelux IR illuminator: Do you have problem's with the Tendelux turning off too early in the morning, did you solve that in some way, i.e., by taping the photosensor?

I'm a simple guy

I'm set the day focus during the day and set the night focus at night

I did set the night focus at night, but early in the morning some licenses are somewhat out of focus, not sure what's happening. Need to investigate but this issue of setting focus on one page and switching to another page to save is making things difficult to investigate during the day.

For many of us, the focus number is different between visible light and infrared, so it is kinda hard to troubleshoot night settings during the day and thus we do the troubleshooting and setting of parameters during the profile we are working on.

It sounds like maybe your day profile is set to auto instead of forcing it to color or vice versa with the night and then the camera is switching based on available light but the focus is still on the other profile?

Yeah I find it best to use a Schedule Profile and force a switch 45 min before sunset and 45 min after sunrise

Yes, focus is different at night and day. And day is color.only while night is bw only. I check the night results with my car and works great (well, static plate, not moving during focus setup). Then the next night things are not good anymore, but I am not sure what is the problem. I reinstalled the camera recently and put a Tendelu DI20 which seems to boost the night output nicely. So I went to modify slightly exposure parameters, decrease the gain, decrease shutter, etc, and although seemed good,.now I get occasionally some crap results. I am just trying to rule out focus problems which for sure were there some nights ago. Here is a fresh result that looks pretty bad, but this may be from exposure, gain, sharpen, etc.

Let's take another example. I have a backup setting file from two months ago. I want to apply that and just go to manually set focus values to the values I know work from current installation. This is not easy to do because when I switch to day profile, the live view will switch back to night.

In that case if you want to make night setting adjustments during the day (or vice versa), you need to go into the time schedule and temp make the profile for the time you are at the profile you want to work in.

Here's my settings on one of my Z12's

Also when you set the zoom/focus, I rarely if ever touch the focus slider. It will auto correct to the zoom.
Make sure main controil is set to Manual... SAVE
Then on the Live screen A) set the step to 1 B) adjust zoom till target gets clear. It may take a few +1 or minus 1 bumps to get it perfect. Focus will typically auto correct to the zoom.
Last go back to man setup screen and go to Zoom tab and hit Save again
