Hi All,
I am trying to default some dahua IP cameras (dh-ipc-hfw5231ep-z) using the hard reset button. It comes back online with the .108 ip address but it's not defaulted as it is asking me for the password which I don't have. At this stage it should be looking for me to enter a new password.
I tried the usual method of powering off and holding the reset button while applying power but all to no avail.
Any help appreciated.

Just discovered that the camera was in default mode all along. As a last attempt at trying a password I tried the obvious ADMIN. This worked. It then dawned on me that back nine years ago when I installed these cameras you were not prompted to set a new password on page 1. Another ''bum steer'' I was getting on site was that my IP camera tester was not showing the camera up as uninitilazed. It was displayed as ''normal'' with the default IP address 192.168.1.108.
Time for a beer.
