Camera suggestions for outdoor, no power, no sun, no internet?

Want to mount two cameras outside to look at the entry doors of a business building.

Problems:
  • This is the north side of the building in Michigan, thus no sunlight for solar
  • There is no Internet in/at the building
  • There is no power nearby

I don't want to use battery powered trail cams (they look ugly).

Cellular is an option, but wondering if a cellular wifi hotspot might be better (financially) than putting multiple cams on a cellular account.

Solar panels would have to be mounted about 30 feet away in order to get direct sunlight.

The doors are on a public sidewalk, so there is the potential for a lot of false hits.

Anyone have any ideas? Google searches turn up too many options to make sense of the results.

Thanks.

Does this "business building" have power and you cannot use it?

Yes, the building has power inside. It's probably 100+ years old and has a brick and concrete exterior, with walls that are quite thick. They could be drilled to find power inside, either in the form of an AC adapter, or a POE adapter. There is no usable power outside where the cameras would go.

I'd go the extra mile to use available power rather than go with battery +solar....

A properly chosen POE switch can power several cameras over 300 feet over equally properly chosen CAT-6, 23 gauge, pure solid (not stranded) copper (not CCA/Copper Clad Aluminum) with the right outer jacket for the application.

Another idea is that there might be Xfinity WiFi in the area. I am a Comcast Internet customer, so I should have access to their wifi network, just not sure if that would be useful.

As you probably know, streaming 24/7/365 via Wi-Fi or cellular from one or more remote cameras to a local NVR or PC-VMS would require a HUGE amount of data and bandwidth, likely not viable.
However, temporary remote access via Wi-Fi or cellular to download the camera's SD card that was recorded to when a AI motion event occured remotely AND you received an alarm notification of such is practical and doable.

While a fine suggestion for a wired network with Internet access and an NVR of some kind, I don't think it meets the needs. Too complicated, too many extra parts needed.

I am not familiar with "DORI", but after a quick Google search, I'd say 100-150. It would be nice to be able to make out a face at 15-20 feet. Lighting shouldn't be a big issue, as there are street lights that eliminate total darkness.

I wouldn't call anything battery/solar powered 24/7 dependable and simple either.....and the SD cards would function in place of an NVR, can't get much simpler than that, although not nearly as flexible and programmable. Hopefully someone else will respond with something more suitable for you.
