Getting the hang of it

I have a narrow (approx 1m) passageway at the side of a house with an exit door approx 5m back from a gate at the frontage. I need a camera to mount just rearwards of the door to pick up anyone coming through the gate and up to the door. A tripwire would need to be set also. The rear aspect is covered by another camera.

What POE camera/lens would be best please?

Thanks.

Does the Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE need 802.3af or is that optional just to get the 800m range?

Could the IPC-HDW-4231EM-AS work as a cheaper option? If so what lens (2.8mm, 3.6mm, or 6mm) would be best for this application?

Thanks.

It needs either 802.3af poe or a seperate 12vdc power supply, but not both. 802.3af has nothing to do with the extended range, as explained in my post.

With that narrow of space, I think you will be well severed by one of the above. Set it up on a test rig first to determine actual placement. Test rig, 8ft 2x4, 5 gal bucket, rocks or sand.

OK, thanks. So I can use the ZE with regular POE making it an option from the two cameras you mentioned (I have the IPC-HDW5231R-Z already). Are there or are there not focus issues with the ZE?
