Just checked the Blue Iris website. 5.9.9.88 is not available there yet.

I just edited the reply. You might try a DB compact before trying again.

When I opened BI the update dialog box opened and regardless of which button I clicked on the application just closed. I tried it several times and it finally worked.

Thanks for the tip. Went to options and Storage Tab and clicked on "Run DB repair".
After that it now it went through the update without just closing instantly on update from 5.9.9.87 to 5.9.9.88 (x64)

Could it be the "Upgrade to version 6.x DB format" needing to run DB repair to update?
