Hey all,

A post after forever and a half! I'm on the latest stable version of BI and finally am porting over to CP.ai after holding deeply to DeepStack, which I think finally stopped working.

I'll admit that I have my doubts of using Code Project AI correctly and set up correctly, but I'm also about 80% sure it's set up right to detect, custom models and alerts. No changed haver coccured with my wife and mine Android phones in terms of new phones bought or upgraded OS.

With all that said, can someone please help me troubleshoot why the push notifications aren't working on our Android phones? When I send the test notifications, my phone and watch both vibrate and the BI test notification is there. However, in the real world, nothing goes off in terms of my phone or watch's screen, vibration, etc, but inside BI, the notification is there and actually, I'm certain the BI icon also shows up in the status bar, but no notification for it in terms of vibration or toast like messages. Do you guys know what could be wrong?

I've tried so far:

1. Clearing the BI app cache and force stopping and launching the app.
2. Upgrading, downgrading BI server versions.
3. Make sure BI is allowed on my phone for notifications.
4. Make sure BI is available on my phone for notifications on lockscreen, vibration and all.

Can you guys share ideas on what could be wrong? How to really test this? Or maybe, what the working settings are on your end for Triggers, Alerts for cameras and Mobile Devices screen, and On Alert Settings?

I will appreciate any help and please, not looking for Push Over migration, yet.

Thank you!

1. Make sure the Blue Iris app has 'Unrestricted' battery use.

2. Delete each device from the Settings > Mobile devices tab. Then reconnect the device(s) to the server by logging in from the Blue Iris app. Be patient if you don't see results right away.

3. If these don't work, make a decision that your time is better spent getting Pushover working, lol. Seriously, once you get it configured, it's amazingly reliable.

And if you use the Pushover email option to send the push instead of the API option, it is literally change BI from push to email and off you go.

The API option gives way more functionality and options, but to many just getting an image alert that can be obtained by the pushover email option push is enough.

If you just updated to Android 16 you need to do all the above recommendations, along with deleting the BI app and reinstalling, then setting all notifications and battery "allow background usage unrestricted", Manage app if unused is disabled. Good luck, the BI android app is buggy. I use Pushover as redundancy also.

Thanks guys, all good suggestions, I'll try all and respond back.

Can anyone explain the behavior of Pushover notifications? Like, once I get them, can I click on it to play the clip like the App ones behave?

@wittaj Check your DMs bud! I'm lost without you on the LPR LOL! Please!

The notifications appear in the notification tray with a thumbnail. A touch opens the tray notification in the Pushover app. From there you can touch links in the message body to play the alert clip directly in UI3, or view a full size alert JPG in UI3. This is fully illustrated in my original post.

I've also created a utility that sends a Pushover GIF animation instead of the alert image. What's nice about this is that the GIF plays automatically in the Pushover app. If you've received multiple GIF notifications, their images are all continuously looping in the app with no additional interaction.

Actually I typically sent two notifications per alert for key cameras, one with an AI markup image, the other with a GIF created from the AI DAT file. In a glance, I can usually discern what has transpired and why. I hardly ever need to open UI3 or the app.

BTW, unless something has changed, Blue Iris App notifications do not open and play alert clips. Rather, when touched they only open the app on the default start tab/camera. Then you must navigate within the app to locate, and play the alert clip. Not ideal when you want to know what's happening NOW.

Hey jaydeel, another very helpful post, thank you. After your post, I did try to double check my notifications settings and my wife's. Deleted the devices in BI and restarted over. It's the same behavior. Notifications do show up in the status bar, and do show up in the BI app, but they don't vibrate or give the Pop-up screen off, Edge notifications (Samsung phones).

If you managed to get the gif preview going, that would be amazing! I used to love it on my Arlo app, believe it or not :P! Is possible to do the gifs with the burn in orange mark?

If a few more BI updates don't fix this, I may have to follow your Pushover advice. Do you have a finalized tutorial somewhere? Preferably a YouTube video or a forum/blog post?

Thank you so much, you've been so helpful on this topic!
