Best use for IPC-HDW5831RP-ZE cameras // Will it be OK in conjunction for "overall" view dedicated LPR camera?

Bought them a few years ago, I can't remember now where I was going to put them.
I have the IPC-HDW5231R-Z on my front porch, the trusty ole 2MP Starlight camera, so I am a believer that you don't need high MP to have a good image.

I am wondering if I can put one of these IPC-HDW5831RP-ZE on the corner of my house to capture the front corner of the yard/street as an overall view, used in conjunction with my IPC-HFW5431EP-Z5, which will be tuned for LPR.

This is roughly the area I imagine I would have it set up for (in blue). The red is how I plan to have the LPR camera set up.

Wondering if I should go with it since I already have it, or if I should save it for something indoors like the garage/basement, and buy something different the first time.

Thank you.

Sure why not.

Performance will depend greatly on ambient light

At night it will be good for overview?! The camera is completely pitch black.

4MP 5442's would be much better at night but he asked about them becasue he already owns them

I mean, if it's the wrong camera for the job I will put them in my garage or basement and pick up something that is appropriate...I'll look at the 5442 offerings.

Any model or option specificially to look out for?

Depends on distance and target priority.

Buy one 5442 variable focus and use that to test vs those 8MPs and see.

I have fixed 3.6 at doorways, with added light to get faces, I have varifocals for overview and watching the car/dock, and I have a Z4 zoomed to catch faces at 55ft

Not addressing the question specifically, just general discussion.

I've for years been using a 4231 6mm 2MP Starlight bullet for LPR. It did the job. I replaced it a few days ago with a 6mm 5442 turret. What a difference, especially at night! With the 4231 the nighttime numbers were fuzzy but readable. With the 5442 they're sharp and crisp with better contrast. I ran the 4231 shutter at 1/500, with the 5442 I can run at 1/1000. That said, I likely have a more ideal setting that most will have, with a driveway. The license plates pass about 7 feet from the camera while the car is turning, and a 4 watt IR illuminator shining on them. Probably hard to get a better IR lighting situation.
