I have one more question before placing the order. Will I get significantly better daylight image quality if I go with the 5442TM-ASE-S3 4MP IR Fixed-focal Eyeball WizMind Network Camera (112°) with a 2.8mm lens instead of the 3449H-AS-PV-PRO WizColor WizSense TiOC 4MP Eyeball IP Camera (111°) with the same lens?
I’ve been spending quite a bit of time on this forum lately, and I’m starting to second-guess some of my choices for the front of the market setup — you guys clearly know your stuff and are very passionate!
Daytime image quality is especially important in my case, since we have several refrigerators and ice cream freezers outside that need surveillance during the day . So if the 5442 S3 provides noticeably better image quality in daylight, I’d definitely prefer that over the TiOC version, even though the strobe and extra features are cool.
Also, I should mention that the current camera setup is really bad — honestly, I don’t think it could be worse. The person who installed it seemed more focused on hiding it than on actually covering the area properly. To make matters worse, the camera itself is just an old interior model we had lying around the house — probably over 12 years old — connected to a DVR system. The image quality is, as expected, very poor, and nowhere near what we need for outdoor monitoring.
For the upgrade, I’m planning to move the new camera at least 1 meter closer to the entrance — maybe even place it right above the entrance door, centered on the front of the market. It’s a fairly wide area, so I’m curious if the 2.8mm lens will still give me good coverage from that position.
Also, just to add: there is already some ambient light at night from the drinks refrigerators that run 24/7 with their LED lighting and the street lights are pretty strong, so it’s far from completely dark
I’ll attach a photo from the current camera to give you a better view of the situation. Please also check the previous pictures I posted to get the full context. Thanks a lot!
