-17 -18 forecast for low Monday. That's almost as cold as it gets in the Twin Cities.

Never experienced -17 without a wind chill. Originally from PA. From 2012 to 2014, in January months, we experienced temps in the range of -10 with a wind chill of -29. And major snow storms every holiday from Christmas to Easter (usually 12 to 36 inches). Needless to say, with the price of heating oil at the time ($5.50/gal) and the fact that it was getting more difficult for me to clear snow, we decided we had enough and began looking for a home in Florida. We moved to Florida in December of 2015, just in time for the winters to become milder in Pennsylvania

So I purchased one of the new redesigned Tendelux Ir Illuminators to give it a try.
You can see it here

I have two other older Tendelux IR illuminators that are still running strong after almost 3 yrs in use.
One is an 8 watt model, and the other is a 4 watt model. And they've done a fine job for my intended use.

This new unit is 10 watts and includes a power supply. Is fairly small, and sports a new heat sink design, it runs warm and is needed.



Verdict, I like it, has a good wide even spread and nice output. Well made, and should hold up outdoors...

Something to keep in mind with these is that certain IR wavelengths will attract insects way more than others. I have a few of the unit in the post above and they were fine, but some of the larger units caused crazy bug problems for me after a while to the point where I had to get an exterminator to spray around the area.

I use this at 110ft, you can see it easily lights up well past that. Yes its cheap and wide angle

Tendelux mounted approx 3ft below camera. (5241 Z12) The Camera IR is NOT on as it blows out the scene at 110ft. At 150-200 Id have it on also

Can I ask what software or app allowed you to pick up the plate? For example when i saw the video I could not pause and detect the plate, but your plate detection in that video was amazing clairty.

It is just slowing down the playback a lot or step advancing the video.
