That is correct. Even though there is a lot of interoperability, the 2 brands are much like third parties to one another and cannot guarantee that all features are compatible with one another. There are a lot of similarities that will help with the transition.

In terms of adding to devices, ONVIF will be the best way currently.

The following article will go into more detail.

I've just purchased a AL4M-P402W to begin testing out the new devices. I have a huge investment in the Amcrest IP camera ecosystem and depend on Amercrest Survalance Pro. I really hope I don't have to run two different copies of software.

yeah that was fine for their popular 2mp PTZ 8 years ago. what gives. Maybe "the man" is keeping them down....and thus how we end up with grainy UFO videos from CCTV.

Very disappointed with the AL4M-P402W. It's basically a cloud camera. There is no way to set this up without the proprietary app on a smart phone. Going to be returning this back the Amazon.

Interestingly enough, while I was buying this device I also decided to throw in a cheap Alptop (AT-200DW) PTZ cam. That one was actually more viable than this. No app needed, no cloud, it just works.

If this is the future of Amcrest, then that's the end. There is no future with them. Worse part is the expense I now need to endure to go and return the item. Amcrest should compensate me for such garbage products like this.
