I can't remember if this changed with the more recent firmware, or if it's always been this way but under backlight, if I select BLC on my 2MP cameras I can select custom and move a box around to the area I want it to adjust to. With the 5442T-ZE there's the same options except no box shows up and I don't see a way to do anything "custom" other than it does change things.

How do you adjust / customize "custom" on these?

I'm running 2.840.15OG00D.0.R build date 2022-08-18 from Andy. I tried both the smart IR and non-smart IR firmware, just to see if there was a difference but there wasn't. I'm currently on the non-smart IR as I manually adjust them.

He said use IE not Edge.

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:
  • Open Notepad:
    • Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
    • CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
    • Save as OpenIE.vbs
  • Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
  • Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer.

You're right, I made a wrong assumption.

I'll need to give that a shot and see what happens.

Well,
For what it's worth even though I can't test the IPC-T5442T-ZE yet because I'm not home, I did test on the following cameras.

IPC-T22IR-ZAS-S3
IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3
IPC-T2231T-ZS - four cameras
IPC-T2431T-AS-3.6mm
IPC-T2431T-AS-2.8mm

All of them give me the box to move around when BLC is set to customized, in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Edge set to IE. I didn't see any problems in any of the browsers.

IPC-T5442T-ZE three of these all show no box, at least in Chrome and Edge and dragging the pointer around had no effect. I'll try Edge in IE mode tonight, and if I have time I'll install actual IE just to be sure.

I can configure BLC box even on Safari on Mac.. Without plugins...

Probably you had installed in past some broke (or simply old) Dahua plugin. And it lacks support for this feature..
Try from different computer, where is no Dahua plugin. should work..
