Hello,
I have added a 2nd hard drive to split some of the cameras to it. I'm a little confused regarding the Alerts folder for the 2nd hard drive
I have set the 2nd hard drive as, AUX 1 for "New" and Aux 2 for "Alerts". Then on the camera's record I have set the "Continuous" to record on Aux 1, but I am not sure where or how to point the Alerts folder to.
I selected Aux 2 folder under the JPEG section, but I am no sure if that is correct. Is this where I need to point the Alerts to, or do I even need to have an Alerts folder on the 2nd hard drive?

Please see below and advise if this is correct or if I need to make any changes.

oh, I thought one of the benefits of having 2 hard drives is in case one fails, at least there's the footage on the other hd for the other cameras.. if all the alerts will be in one place, if that hd fails, doesn't that mean I lose all the alerts?

Yeah, you still have the footage.

But the database is sensitive and the alerts is one of the areas that could easily break even if you could split them.

Actually most people keep the alerts folder on the same drive as BI and Windows and if you have a backup in place, you will only lose the alerts up to that point.

So no need to have an Alerts folder on the 2nd HD then?
Does that mean the camera assigned to the 2nd HD should look like this?

Also, I notice the Alerts folder on the main HD is empty... is that normal?

That is correct. No need for an Alerts folder on the 2nd drive.

I would suggest naming the Aux folder something other than New, New1 or something else just so the database doesn't go nuts.

Yes, if you are only saving thumbnails, then the Alerts folder is empty. It is some weird quirk. It will only show files if you are saving hi-rez alert jpgs or the .dat files for CodeProject.
