2nd Amendment thread

Yeah, I remember the news saying the gun was a bolt action. No Scope? A neck kill shot from that distance? Oh, yeah I have questions now...:)

That video was sent to me by a friend, yeah I have not watched it all either, nor have I searched/researched this. I have seen a few videos online but not enough to conclude anything. We know anything is possible.

Truthfully, I have been mourning Charlie's loss these last days. Wife said she heard the shooter's roommate was a Trans., if that matters, I am sure it fueled the hate though if true.

I do like that Charlie's wife is pushing on with Turning Point, not letting it die. Even seen some videos that more students are now joining Turning Point...

Odd that's not the pic or rifle they released a few days ago

I;m sure its just a clerical error

This might be it. Looks like they just picked it up from Academy in a box....j/k LOL. Would have been nice if I came across a pic of it wrapped in a towel as they said.

That’s the original.

Lots of details changing. Give them time to assemble a story.

Its 50-60 years too soon

Anyone remember SOG (Southern Ohio Guns)? That was a great place that always was importing military surplus. I bought a Turkish Mauser for $49 delivered that included bayonet and scabbard. I bought it as just a wall hanger and have it sitting above the mantel. Just noticed that the bolt assembly for it sells for $160 on eBay. My only regret is that I didn't buy a couple of crates of Colt Sistema 1911s from SOG on the cheap.

OK--- slo-mo cameras on steroids now. 20 MILLION frames per second. The .308 bullets hitting GLASS is really amazing and shows some weird physics happening....

So the court says -- Fine, you win, BUT, that win only applies IF you are a member of one of the groups that brought the lawsuit.... WTF??? Your Rights are only in effect if you are a member of a particular group??

So, two guys engaged in road rage, stop together at a red light. One gets out of his vehicle, thinks about it, goes Back to his vehicle and grabs a knife. That guy, Exell Hicks then proceeds to move directly towards the other driver with the knife. The other driver, still in his car, fires three 9mm rounds from his open window that kill Hicks from a distance of 5 feet.

Video evidence at 56 seconds...

Hicks, by the way, had assaulted someone with a knife before, stabbing that person in the face. Of course, the shooter here did not know that information, but it lends a Lot of credibility to literally "fearing for one's life".

My question: Should he have pulled his gun to be visible to Hicks and barked at him to go back to his vehicle?

Didn’t look like he had gobs of time ? 21ft rule and all he may have just had time to react draw and fire. Good on him

If I recall that can be considered brandishing and get you into shit still right?

That is exactly the core problem. If seeing the gun would have caused that guy to do a full stop, then "brandishing" stopped a crime and nobody dies.

I do recall Mass Ayoob in his Mag40 class emphasizing to be shouting the warning “Stop, Get Back, Drop the Knife,..” while pulling the trigger so that witnesses can hear it ;)

No, that would not be brandishing. Texas law defines brandishing a firearm as openly displaying it in a manner intended to cause alarm or fear in others. Letting an assailant know you have a gun and to back away would not be brandishing it. You can pull a gun and not fire it. Most times the presentation of the firearm will make the perp turn and go away. Your intent was not to threaten, but to get the perp to change his mind on what you thought his intentions were, which was to stab you.

In this case, why did the guy have his window down? When the guy first got out of his car, I would have made sure all the doors were locked and the windows up. That could have been accomplished when the perp got out of his car in the beginning. That was a big knife. But it would not have allowed him access to the inside of the car.

Of course it is easy to critique this confrontation from the comfort of your computer chair and rewatching the video a few times. Very different than having to respond in real time.
