A 44-year-old woman in Pennsylvania is accused of killing her husband during an argument at their home over gun safety, allegedly pointing a firearm at his chest and pulling the trigger to "show him a lesson."
In a voluntary interview with detectives, Dawn Freeman allegedly said she had "begged" her husband for years to stop leaving his firearm in unsafe locations because she feared "something bad would happen."
"Effective October 9, 2026, ATF will no longer require individuals to seek ATF approval under the NFA before making or transferring short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, silencers, and “any other weapon” as defined in 26 U.S.C. § 5845(e). ATF will also no longer require such items to be registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record. These policies apply uniformly to anyone otherwise subject to these requirements, not just to the plaintiffs in the litigation."
* Note: this does not repeal or cancel anything with respect to the NFA.
This is simply ATF saying they aren’t going to enforce it.
State laws may still apply
I wonder what happens to all of the suppressors that are in an NFA Trust? And the Tax Stamps and paperwork? Can one just keep them and dump the paperwork?
