My pistol case has combos, like a briefcase. It went into luggage. The luggage had TSA locks on it.

At least 2 lessons probably more

1- drop the mag first THEN rack the slide to clear the weapon. Last, physically look and feel that there is no round in the chamber

2- Universal rule #2
Never point a weapon at anything you don’t want to destroy/shoot

Other things...Guy placed the gun on table pointing at himself, NOT down range/in a safe direction. The other guy picked up a gun that was NOT his. He did NOT check it. He had it pointing at the guy he shot. He pulled the trigger while the gun was NOT pointed in a safe direction.

If you watch the movie Tremors, you will see Burt Gummer perform an empty check in the middle of the scene where he takes back the gun from Melvin. Burt KNOWS he gave Melvin and empty gun. He KNOWS no one could have loaded it. But he checks it since he is taking it from another person. That is protocol. Also, in the movie the check is not 'presented'. Burt just does it while talking to Melvin. Like it is second nature to him. I often wonder if it was in the script or if Michael Gross just did it out of habit.

Yep.....a BIG can.

Too late now for him but my advice would be: even if in YOUR mind you're not a threat and in YOUR mind you were planning only to keep advancing and ONLY gesture with your arms AND you felt that YOU were in the right (regardless of what prompted the confrontation) do NOT...I repeat...do NOT keep advancing and motioning with your arms when SOMEONE IS POINTING A DAMN GUN AT YOU !!!

Was watching CBS news---- they left that part out. They only showed video of her backing up while pointing the gun....

If, in fact, she went to her car, fetched a gun, chose NOT to drive away or at least lock her doors and call 9-1-1 but instead returned to confront the unarmed man and then shot him then her "stand your ground" defense is literally "up in smoke"....IMO....and I hope that's the case.
