Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

The comments on the additional IR illumination are really interesting and it shows how each person might be using their camera systems differently. So for instance in my case I have a huge back yard I need to light up at night (there is zero street lights where we live) but my camera system is...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

That's pretty much the perfect situation for a Dl10 IMHO. The Dl20 would definitely light up those trees on the other side of the street but you'll likely get some white washing of images in the foreground (especially reflection off the 2 trees in the yard on the left and right). I'd say it...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

It really depends on how big the area is your trying to illuminate. If you have a large back yard and the treeline is 60-100ft away then I would definitely go with the DI20. A smaller urban or suburban property might do better with the Dl10 since most of what you're trying to capture isn't...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I actually use both. The smaller DI10 one for areas where I need more focused light and the larger DI20 one when I need to project alot over a bigger area.

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I use this one with mine and it makes a huge difference in how far I can see and also prevents IR image washout from hitting nearby objects like gutters, downpipes, etc. I have heard of the power supplies on them occasionally going bad but I replaced mine with an LED power supply and hardwired...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

That camera is awesome, you definitely didn’t make a mistake but it does need more illumination for where you have it aimed. I would turn off the camera IR and use an external illuminator because it will keep the bugs off the camera and greatly improve your nighttime viewing.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I have a couple of caveats for how I use mine that may be different from what you’re doing with your setup. First I only use the app on my phone, never a computer. Second I also have 32GB mini SD cards loaded into both of my doorbells so all my captures are recorded there in the app (so I don’t...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I have 2 of these on my house (separate entrances) and same here, no ads with the app or issues with the hardware.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

That’s cool. My 2 big black dogs barking incessantly behind the door glass is usually enough to make any door-to-door sellers think twice before ringing my doorbell.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I use the Reolink app and yes, it gives you motion notifications as well as 2-way talk when the doorbell button is pushed.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I actually totally agree Tony, my Reolinks have been great to date as well. Only complaint is I have to use their app to get the 2-way capability. I'm definitely going to be waiting a bit for the Unifi stuff to get alot more reviews and of course price/availability could certainly be isssues...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Unfortunately, no, they don't support output as RTSP/ONVIF on Unifi cameras but Protect does allow 3rd party camera adoption. It is definitely possible to run Protect and BI at the same time though so you have the best of both worlds (some 3rd party 4k cameras have had issues displaying well in...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Backdoor can mean intentional or not, it doesn't need to be deliberate or nefarious. Hikvision definitely contained a backdoor which was proven to allow anyone access who knew about it. Hikvision was silent about fixing it and later buried all communications about it (not a very trustworthy...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

The hardware on the ban list are on there because they literally have blatant back doors built right into the firmware. That may please some politicians but reality is that’s very dangerous if not installed correctly (as has been outlined many times on this forum). IOTs are almost always a...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Yes, you can definitely set up the doorbell and configure everything without internet but if you use the phone app (ie using 2-way audio when doorbell is pushed) then they would need a path to the internet for access. It doesn’t use port forwarding or need any 3rd party services to allow access...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

The key is whether they are NDAA compliant and Reolink is so they are safe to use and allow access but several including Dahua and Hikvision are not.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I remember reading about that but when I use the Reolink app I have no ads. What part of the app does that?

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I only block my banned Chinese (Dahua, Hikvision, Lorex, etc) cams from the internet so the Reolink app works fine.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I assumed he meant the Reolink app, I never had the 2 way audio working working in Blue Iris myself. I have 2 of them and both have been working flawlessly for quite a while now. If they made a G6 doorbell I’d probably switch but these Reolink ones definitely beat the G4 for image quality.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

That’s the firmware version I’m using and it works great. v3.0.0.3215_2401272070

Experience with Unifi Protect and UNVR Pro

Definitely seems to do well even against the AI Pro, certainly something to consider going forward.

Says in the specs it should be able to handle a max of one single 4K camera, are you at least able to do this with an AI Port?

Experience with Unifi Protect and UNVR Pro

Not just price, there’s still too many limitations to them (versus native AI in Unifi cameras) IMHO to really make a good case for adding them to say 10-20 ($2,000-4,000) or more 3rd party cameras and really getting the most out of your investment. It will definitely give you more AI...

Experience with Unifi Protect and UNVR Pro

I agree with pretty much everything @quest100 said above in terms of what to expect with Protect and integrating 3rd party cameras with AI triggers. The AI Ports are good but not great so I think they are developing something to replace this in the not too distant future. I use Protect either on...

Ah ok, so primarily watching animals along with the occasional person and you need Home Assistant integration. That's not a huge ask as all really, very doable. I think if I were you there's definitely a few options to consider. Besides status quo, the first option is as you suggested would be...

What kind of alerts do you normally see or need on Blue Iris? Are they usually in the day or at night? Just thinking what might be the best setup for your specific situation. I have a big rural property but really I only need to know when folks come by the doors (guests, packages, workers...

Experience with Unifi Protect and UNVR Pro

I have the exact same setup and use external IR illuminators while turning off the onboard camera’s IR. Totally agree it works way better and I find it also cuts down on bugs in front of my cameras on summer nights. I have 10 of those IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 cams running through Protect and I have no...

Experience with Unifi Protect and UNVR Pro

Yes the UNVR was released in mid 2020 and the UNVR Pro was released in mid 2021. That said they are definitely still well in production and I don’t think there’s any indication they will be phasing them out anytime soon. I have older Edge Switches from Ubiquiti that aren’t even made anymore and...

Experience with Unifi Protect and UNVR Pro

No, Unifi has its own servers that create the encrypted remote connection for you in Protect. So unlike BI you don’t need port forwarding or any 3rd party services whatsoever to make it work. All you need is an internet connection that’s it.

Experience with Unifi Protect and UNVR Pro

You can use Zerotier but Unifi has it’s own encrypted setup that works great so unlike Blue Iris you shouldn’t need to use any 3rd party services to make Protect accessible remotely. Yes Protect has apps for both Apple and Android.
