    The distance from the camera to the owl was only 30 feet or so. The deadwood he was on is in this photo with the camera fully zoomed out. Yes, lowest level of white LEDs on the detail camera was used.

    I'm interested mostly in eagles and sandhill cranes which are pretty big, but I'm not sure that camera would pick them up. Might though given it's in the sky and contrast should be good.

    Seems those 360 cameras require PTZ to get the 360 degrees so that won't work. It needs to have 180 degree field of view. I may have to stitch two cameras together but I hope to avoid that. I would think somebody would have made a product that already does what I'm looking for.

    The 25x at full zoom... The 42x at full zoom Looking at the size difference between the elliptical snow field in the bottom left, it seems like the zoom of the 42x delivers. I just had unrealistic expectations.

    This one is about 80-90% zoom I'd estimate. With the 42x. Maybe a little less. This is full zoom.

    I don't understand how that works. I would think the starting point would be the image shown when fully unzoomed.

    I'm sure I'm just ignorant, I never factored MM into zoom. I was under the impression that for the 25x camera, the image fully unzoomed, would be 25 times bigger/closer at full zoom. And that 42x would be about 60% more than that. If optical zoom is 42x, shouldn't that mean that the fully...

    I was able to upload images this time. I've updated the OP to show a zoom comparison. I'll do some more comparisons on image quality and such in the future and share the pano footage from the 42x camera. So far the images shared are from the "detail" PTZ camera of the 42x camera.

    The new POE injector got the new camera up and running. It will take me a bit to figure out all the settings and such to generate something useful, but my plan is to share photos and video of these two cameras for comparison.     Andy pointed out that my POE switch doesn't provide POE++ power for this camera, so I guess I'll start there. We're using a AETEK C11-042-30-065 which apparently doesn't supply enough juice.
