The Typical picture of a Perp on Nextdoor-type Apps with Consumer Grade Cameras like Ring, Nest, Arlo, Canary, Wyze, etc.

How do you help your neighbors with recommending and installing cameras?

If I were to be asked by a neighbor, I would only be a conduit for what I have learned here. And they had better be DIYers because I don't have the time needed for my own setup.

    Notes from the Swamp

I get that. I put out cameras to monitor rodent activity and have found unexpected enjoyment seeing my various four legged neighbors doing their thing in the dark.

    Notes from the Swamp

So, wait - that cat, that isn't yours, has you trained to respond to it's calls for feeding at 5am? And then it probably goes home for it's owner's feeding for it? So many quips to be made here, that I will abstain. Too easy.;)

Memory Card Availability and Costs - Wow!

Jeez, was price hunting again - very disheartening. For the amount I would have to spend, I might as well fire-up another DVR. edit: NVR not DVR

Memory Card Availability and Costs - Wow!

I last purchased micro SD cards a couple/few months ago during September through December. I now need several more and have learned that supplies are down and prices are way up. Major suckage. What next?... *sigh Just squawkin' here. edit: Okay, ignore me. I just learned that SD...

If the owner knows it has this condition they shouldn't let it out on its own. That cat is totally vulnerable. IMO

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Last week I finally took my Pro outside for the first time. I just set it on top of a ladder for some testing. My target area has no ambient lighting, other than natural light or from passing cars, so I use a 10w IR, and it is about fifty feet to the road. It didn't take long for me to decide...

Anybody else having rodents (squirrels, rats, etc.) nesting underhood and/or chewing on wiring?

I will say that I had mixed results with the bait. Using the cameras, I know there were customers who dined at one of my "restaurants" every night for a week or two. (locked bait stations) The electric traps finally ended that. edit: One rat taunted me every night by eating my stuff and posing...

Anybody else having rodents (squirrels, rats, etc.) nesting underhood and/or chewing on wiring?

I have had this problem with pests stealing my insulation from under the hood too. I finally put out a couple of cheapie cams set to IR a couple of months ago to see what was going on at night. What I have viewed has been surprising, informative, interesting and sometimes comical. Then I started...
