Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

So here's the NIGHT comparison of Firmware 0827 & 1022 on the T54PRO-ZE at zoom level 550 - that scale goes from 0-2426. First, this is NOT A "FAIR" SITUATION for the camera ... since the settings are 80msec shutter, 100 iris, 65 gain, 50 3D NR, and 50 2DNR. So clearly the light level is waayyy...

T54PRO-ZE wiring harness - lots of wires - believe 12V power OUT is new (and probably on other 2025 cams)

To wrap up this thread, here's what I ended up doing with the T54PRO-ZE wire bundle. Basically the tape all of the "electrical" ends, and then tape the skinny wires together ... plus even the labels ... since all of that just gets "caught" when you are trying to wrap it up inside the wall mount...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Nice spot! Yea, normally, I'd wedge some foam (with tape on the inside) to close that off (although it's not like there aren't opening from where the turret rotates) but since this is a temporary install, I just stuffed a torn-off-cloth in there. BTW, the PFB2203's DO have the plastic filler...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Here's a first pictures from the "Twin T54's" (LOL that sounds like the name of a porn star! ;-) from mid-afternoon - the firmware version is in the lower left. This is pretty tough as quite a bit of dynamic range with the sun & shadows. The settings were 5msec shutter (1/200s), 100 iris, ZERO...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

So trying to compare the 0827FW versus 1022FW with the camera's located several feet apart was challenging, I went ahead and removed the 5442-S3 that I had mounted against the wall ... so once the T54PRO firmware has gelled, maybe I'll put the 5442-S3 back up and we can compare to that. The...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I'm suggesting to @CamCrazy that if he hasn't tried it, see what happens with motion freeze (at "reasonable" 0-3msec shutter speeds) if he turns NR completely off. I.e. can we rule out that as a possible cause for his issue? It's a pretty simple test. Walk by the camera with the current...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

@CamCrazy : I wonder if maybe the difficulty you are having in freeze motion is related to my observation (which I didn't realize) that even if you have the 3D/2D NR levels set to zero, if you have it toggled, you are still getting some NR - as @steve1225's said "In case of WizColor cams - this...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

@EMPIRETECANDY : Minor suggested documentation update and/or change in setting behavior. So during my daytime tests, I have set the NR (Noise Reduction) to 0 ... AND ... toggled 3D NR OFF ... which seemed redundant since the level is to set to zero anyway. Turns out that doesn't appear to be...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Now that you mention it @EMPIRETECANDY, there is a blue shift in the histogram - the 1022FW shifts to the left compared to 0827FW. Again, the scene is different (bummer I don't have 'em side-by-side anymore) ... so it's not directly comparable.

Here 'ya go - PNG's straight from the web interface - had to resave as JPEG's because the 2nd PNG would upload, but not "take" ... for reasons unknown, that seems to happen sometimes - they are almost 10MBytes!

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

For completeness, here's the Histograms for those two sets of images above. There's a noticeable right-shift in the (top) 1509 pics ... whereas the (lower) 1656 is much closer. I'm not sure this really tells 'ya much (except that the metering was brighter in the earlier 1509 which had more...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yes, ZE is vari-focal ... both set at zoom=550 (on a scale of 0 to ~2,500) ... but as noted before, the focus numbers are not that close ... about 1640 & 1740 ... so make a slight difference in FOV. And yes, it's an overview camera as shown. Here's a comparison a little more than an hour...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Here's the first comparison image - note the firmware version is labeled in the lower left. So far, 1022FW seems to be running fine ... although I mostly look at image "stuff" in full color, so TBD on the AI/IVS/B&W/illuminator/etc. that other people are much smarter about than me. So if you...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

So I'm starting to look at this - picture below of the setup. Unfortunately, the two T54PRO-ZE's are no longer right next to each other ... so the FOV is slightly different.

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Thank you @EMPIRETECANDY for providing the software which I just applied and this updated the camera to "3.R, Build Date: 2025-10-22" ... so I guess we'll call it the "Andy 1022 FW" TL;DR is a routine update as all went fine and the camera is back-up and running and looks "normal" - will look...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

But please give us the capability to go manual ... not only if we need to for the scene ... but also for testing purposes so we can control the settings. Looking forward to the firmware Andy and I'll definitely give it a go on my camera's. Bonus points if you can provide some detailed release...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Here's an animated GIF (generated from PNG snapshots downloaded directly from the camera) showing the difference (with my scene) between HLC OFF and HLC=1. That's quite a bit of difference visually ... plus look at the Histograms. Seems puzzling to me that setting HLC to just ONE (the scale...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

BTW, since the two camera's are darn close to identical, I'm going to take 'em down in a few hours since I need to paint the wall/camera's and get it permanently mounted ... as my wife is getting back in a few days and she is not as supportive as Mrs. Bigredfish when it comes our camera...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

Good info @bigredfish ... but can I suggest maybe posting this on the "main thread" since I just meant to spin off a discussion about comparing two identical cameras. Having said all that(!), I tried turning HLC off, but still see some dancing pixels - it's hard to quantify how much of a...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

That IS a very difficult scene (even without Mrs. Bigredfish's hair in it to assess sharpness! ;-) with lots dynamic range, lotsa detail, and focus from near to far. Having you tried any HLC ... just do ONE ... as it seems to knock down the highlights more than you think it would. This...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

Yep - there are dancing pixels ... but in this thread, I'm just focusing on comparing two of the same cameras and seeing how "identical" they are - so far, so good ... which bodes well for Dahua manufacturing/quality control. Having said that, here's 90 seconds from this morning - shows me...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

No wind this morning ... and not cloudy ... so enough light to run at 1msec (full iris, ZERO gain) and good that the two images looks pretty identical. There's quite a bit of dynamic range between the bright sun and shadows ... the camera is doing a decent job IMHO. There a separate/common...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I don't if this is related to the orange cast issue that is being optimized, but FWIW here's what I see. I'm running with very slow shutter & high gain (don't ask!) with no added light and Auto WB ... and figured this was the camera making it's best guess as there is a variety of light sources...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I'm also curious about #2 as I might be seeing something like this - hoping they provide some more details that you can share about exactly what the problem is and how it is fixed. I'm also seeing a bit of an orange cast at night (running with very slow shutter & high gain) ... but I figured...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Any chance this is related to my thread "Less sharpness in T54PRO-ZE (versus 5442-S3) possibly due to noise reduction being applied even if set to ZERO?" It sounds like Dahua needs to ante up for an all-expense paid trip for Mrs. Bigredfish (and a companion) to visit China so she can help with...

T54PRO-ZE wiring harness - lots of wires - believe 12V power OUT is new (and probably on other 2025 cams)

FYI FWIW that here's a picture of the wiring hardness from the T54PRO-ZE ... figured a searchable post might be handy for those down the road wondering who, like me, are not long-time expert installers like many here. I believe the other new cams have similar wiring ... and that the 12V power...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

Unfortunately, I don't have a managed switch that would show me power draw ... but that's kinda funky one was a few watts more ... because they are only pulling about 5 Watts (no lights, etc.) to begin with. Yea, I'm not expecting any "earth-shattering" insights ... but figured I'd toss it out...
