    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

BTW, anyone running the 1217 firmware seeing MUCH larger .dav files on the SD card? I set the time interval to 10 minutes ... and am using H.264H, AI Coding, 10 FPS, VBR, Quality 5, 8192Kb/s ... and comparing daytime footage from today (after applying the 1217 FW) to yesterday (at the same...

To echo what @tmxv4128 said about the 1217 firmware being brighter, here's the T54PRO-ZE compared against the 5442 with the exact same settings. Shutter speed is forced to 1/4000s, Gain is 0, Iris is full open, and NR is zero and toggled off - i.e. I tried to make a straight shootout of the...

FYI FWIW that I had no issues applying the 1217FW to my T54PRO-ZE - differences from 11/27FW in BOLD below. It's daytime here ... at a very quick first look in daylight, images appear similar, although may have been some slightly improved tonality changes ... albeit hard to tell since the...

12/17 firmware ... that is literally hot-off-the-press! ;-) Thanks for the heads-up and initial report @tmxv4128 ... and looking forward to further impressions from 'ya. @EMPIRETECANDY : Please DM me a download link if you are looking for more testers ...

    Review - EmpireTech IPC-T54PRO-AS 1/1.8" CMOS 4MP WizColor

@EMPIRETECANDY : any chance of getting some sort of explanation from Dahua on this? Seems like a significant change for just an HLC=1 adjustment.

T54PRO-ZE Field-of-View (and change in aperture/exposure) as focal length changes

Yes @bigredfish it's totally normal ... I was just characterizing what the "curve" looked like using "real" data. Thanks for chiming in @wopi82 as your testing is superb.

    Review - EmpireTech IPC-T54PRO-AS 1/1.8" CMOS 4MP WizColor

Thank you @wopi82 for the detailed and informative reply to various comments from folks. Yea, I remember your ISO stuff from the 4K-X review ... I thought maybe they made this easier ... since comparing against "reference" images is a lot of work, especially if you are looking at "adjusted"...

    Loryta PTZ5A4M-25X Animal Tracking Example

That's pretty darn good! P.S. I noticed @guykuo you are from Sammamish, WA ... as someone originally from that area (with family still there), how's the GAR (Gogzilla Atmospheric River) treating 'ya? LOL the rain on audio is a hint. Hopefully you aren't too low/close to the flooding rivers.

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Providing a pointer here in case anyone didn't see it that @wopi82 posted some excellent stuff on the T54PRO-AS here.

    Review - EmpireTech IPC-T54PRO-AS 1/1.8" CMOS 4MP WizColor

Yea, "core imaging performance" is the foundation ... I hope Dahua Engineers/Management read what you wrote. And yes, as you point out, unknown how much of this is due to global political situation that hasn't allowed advancement in the base sensor technology.

    Review - EmpireTech IPC-T54PRO-AS 1/1.8" CMOS 4MP WizColor

First, GREAT to read your review @wopi82 ... as others have said, I welcome you chiming in more often. WRT the PRO looking WDR'ish/Plasticy: Did you try setting Backlight HLC=1 (yes, just ONE). This can make a surprising difference often times (you'll get "true" black back) - suggests to me...

The 54PRO seems (generally) "better" than the 5442-S3 for STATIC content ... with it having issues on DYNAMIC content ... so my "Pig-Pen Dust Cloud" is a catch-all expression that would encompass noise/ghosting.

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Yes ... and great examples - I like how you did an excellent job showing it. I was just pointing out that it appears on the 4K ... and seems like a similar phenomena on the 54PRO, but much more pronounced. I would think(?) that the final codec/compression is similar (between the 5442-S3 and...

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Nice lights! Would you agree that with 1/166s shutter speed, the "Pig-Pen Dust Cloud" persists longer than that? Just pointing out it "exists" with the Color4K ... but I'm guessing that if you put a 54PRO with similar settings, the "Pig-Pen Dust Cloud" would be "bigger" and "longer lasting" ...

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Curious what the 3NR setting is on the first color camera where the dude drives his pickup across the grass. It's a good capture ... but you can see the "Pig-Pen Dust Cloud" behind it as it goes from right to left ... but it's fairly short/quick compared to the extreme examples I've posted in...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I don't want to sound like a Dahua fan-boy, but I'm pretty encouraged by what I see in the 54PRO (versus the 5442-S3) and the improvements in the firmware ... both visible and IR. Yes, we don't know if gain=70 on the 54PRO is the same as gain=70 on the 5442 (and if there is a "extra" AI boost)...

Yea, your examples have been great ... for instance, LOL that you too are "Pigpen from Peanuts with a dust cloud" behind 'ya! ;-) Plus your stuff and others are much more representative of typical use cases versus my "scene" shots. And LOL I obsess over the Pixel-Peeping! ;-) I wasn't...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

What do you think of the COLOR video? Below is a GIF of them with the two JPEG's pulled from the video. The 54PRO blows away the 5442 - especially in static content. Not just brightness/color, but look at the sharpness of the shirt/bag in the driveway, the trees to the right and across the...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I did look briefly at the on-board IR ... but I'm very confident that it's not as powerful as the 10-Watt Tendelux DI10 ... and for THIS SCENE, I need all the light I can get ... plus widely dispersed. Obviously for close-in-work, you want the onboard light to "work with" the camera ... but I'm...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

BTW, back to the Tendelux IR Illuminators, I agree with others that the light distribution seems pretty even. In fairness, my situation is "best case" ... as it is mounted at the top of the house ... so it's a "long" distance to the target which reduces "distance squared" issues ... and looks...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Oh what the heck, here's the videos. Again, this is an unfair test as it is wayyyy too dark. Please read the explanation/disclaimers about this REALLY DARK scene in my earlier post ... where I closed with "I think they reinforce what I've said that the static content is better with the...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Since we are currently talking about IR illuminators in this thread, I'm kinda reluctant to post a T54PRO-ZE versus 5442-S3 comparison (maybe more appropriate in the other one) ... but here are the images above combined into an animated GIF without and with IR light. Please read the...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

So @wittaj asked the very good question of (basically) what is the existing light at a "reasonable" shutter speed of 1/120s ... since the first thing photographers do is look at what we have to work with ... and then decide how much "light we want to bring to the party" This is a DARK SCENE ...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

In answer to the question of where I mounted the Tendelux DI10 IR light, a picture is worth a thousand words. Having said that, if you look carefully, you'll see a "triangle" pattern of holes drilled a little further back from the edge of the roofline. There is where I originally put it ... but...

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Is that a @tmxv4128 image enhancement on the license plate?!? As someone who fiddled with LPR cameras several years ago for our HOA, the plates really do "light up" with an IR illuminator ... and if there is LPR processing on the camera, it may further enhance it (plus put the the...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Here's a pic just after I installed the DI10 ... the middle of the driveway is about 50 feet away from the camera ... so while this is lit up decently (albeit slow shutter speed with lots of gain/NR - still fiddling with the 5442-S3), more light is always better. I don't "really" need to light...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I believe the field-of-view is basically the same for both - right? I've debated getting the bigger DI20 ... I don't expect it to turn night into day (in the IR spectrum) ... but in your experience, is it a LOT more that ends up making a significant difference?
