true cloud hosting for ip cameras

Does this have anything to do with the cloud? Am I missing something? I see it as just remote access.

Do you all agree with this statement regarding different focal lengths?

This might be ok for city dwellers and indoor use. On my several acre property, a 2.8mm camera is useless. A few locations work with 3.6, but 6mm is the most useful.

    Money & Economics

I'm certainly one who denounces social media content because I think most of it is agenda driven phony. Sure there's some ok posts, but how do you separate them from the junk without spending hours of research? In a way it's similar to when we have a windy day and I get hundreds of false IVS...

    Money & Economics

Maybe it's a local thing because I've concluded the opposite. The local outlets by me often pull rumors and videos from social media and report them as news. Fully agree. The legacy media isn't the powerful gatekeeper that it used to be. Your gut IMO is correct. I don't know if either one...

    The official "WTF" thread

One description I've heard is that the new cars are smartphones with wheels. My newest is a 2019 model and the poorly designed electronic crap drives me batty. I have a list of "favorites", just sharing one is that the very loud seat belt dinger continues dinging when the car is stopped and in...

    Money & Economics

Gosh, I'm not wanting you to waste your time on that. I'm just pointing out that for every statistic driven conclusion, there seems to be an opposite one. I see both sides as agenda driven propaganda, which constitutes most of the statistic driven news reports and social media posts.

This would seem to contradict the Cato report cited in post #3034. Wouldn't surprise me if they started with the same statistics and warped them into opposite directions. Analysis: Over Half of Immigrant Households Are on Welfare War of the charts!!! <<Breitbart Cato>>

    OMG Thermal!

To me, the best solution is a thermal and 4k/t or 4k/x at every camera location. With somebody else's money of course. Practically nothing gets undetected by the thermal camera, and rain and snow don't blind it. Big spiders? Calls for the flamethrower picture that's sometimes posted.

Linux Users - What is your favorite distribution and why?

Somewhat off topic but related in the big picture. I received a gift of a bird feeder with a built in camera. To use the camera I have to load a chinese app on the cell phone, then create an account with a chinese company, and give them my wifi password for the camera to connect. No thanks...

Linux Users - What is your favorite distribution and why?

I've been using Mint Cinnamon for a few years on a couple of laptops and have no regrets. At the time I chose it, it was the most windows-like distribution, which may or may not be true any more. I can also boot win10 on the laptops and rarely do. A rule I have is to never boot win10 with the...

    Cables for less Experiance?

I guess I'm a minority, I've used about 8 different colors and don't run any two of the same color in conduits that carry multiple cat6 lines. Makes it easy to ID the wires running in the crawlspace or in buried boxes outside.

    Money & Economics

I think interpreting this info, even if it's correct, takes more than meets the eye. First of all, I took this report as supporting illegal immigration, my bad. It includes both legals and illegals, which begs the question how do they know how many illegals are here or there economic...

    SD4A425DB-HNY PTZ focusing

Something else to try. I obviously set it to the zoom I thought was most aesthetically pleasing for the BBB (Big Beautiful Birdfeeder ;)).

    SD4A425DB-HNY PTZ focusing

No luck with the Size Ratio, and I also tried moving the feeder around in the frame. My firmware version is the same as yours. I should have added a non-focus picture in the first post. I would have thought it focuses in the middle of the frame, but the algorithm must be different. It does...

    SD4A425DB-HNY PTZ focusing

I have a SD4A425DB-HNY PTZ (the mini PTX with a dome). I set up a preset to look at a bird feeder, and every time it goes there it autofocuses on tree branches behind the feeder, leaving what I want to see blurry. I can "fix" this by disabling auto focus on the camera, then every time I...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

This is another video that misstates the facts. Its audio says about California AB 1421 "The bill...directs the California transportation commission to design a per-mile driving tax program." It does no such thing. It says AB 1421 requires a full implementation plan by 2027. Wrong again, the...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

More crap from the media. Not the same measurement, but he math can't possibly add up. And another gem: The article text says he rammed an ICE vehicle. Not an agent. Pretty much every political post or article now is propaganda, from both left and right media. JUST IN: 92% of likely...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

Is this video talking about a different California bill? I can't find any resemblance between what the video says about the bill, and what the bill says. The video says that the bill will add a 6 to 9 cent per mile tax and require realtime tracking of vehicles. The bill text says it extends...

Critical Linux Warning: 800,000 Devices Are EXPOSED

The video above says there are over a billion devices running on linux. The warning in post #1 says 800,000 devices are exposed. That would mean that less than one out of 1,250 is exposed. Pretty low odds, and "exposed" doesn't mean compromised or hacked. But which 800,000 devices are in the...

Critical Linux Warning: 800,000 Devices Are EXPOSED

I find this video and other articles I've found about the same problem to be sorely lacking and not understandable for anybody but those who know linux very well. I'm temped to say linux nerds only. My main questions are (1) Does it apply to linux running on a PC?, and (2) Does it apply to...

This was really eye opening for me. A couple of years ago I was on Aetna's medicare part D plan, and got started on a really expensive prescription drug. Aetna required that the prescription came from CVS. I wasn't aware until this video that Aetna and CVS are the same company. This video...

Me too. It would be easy to say that this recent big jump in gold/silver prices was just catching up from the many years of price suppression. With the prices going up this much, this fast, I can't help thinking there's something big coming. I'm not smart enough to know what it is. With...

    The official "WTF" thread

I'm infuriated by all of the online sites and in-store checkouts automatically adding a tip, often defaulting to 20% or more. If you don't carefully read all of the individual items you might be paying a lot more than you intended. It's as bad as trying to buy something from amazon without...
